Spent more time driving around Victoria in the last two days than I have in nine years, and all I can say is WTF have you all done to my city!
Matt.
It's very hard to get around. I'm using more gas just to do the basic errands.

I’ve read all the *****ing about Vancouver street, but to see it first hand...
It really has to be experienced in person to understand the true level of insanity the CoV has reached.

@SaanichPolice
We are very sad to report that the youth pedestrian involved in the collision on Cedar Hill Cross Rd has succumbed to their injuries. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and anyone that has been affected by this very tragic incident. #Saanich
Original story from the T-C:
A young person was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a Saanich crosswalk on Monday night.
The pedestrian was hit in a marked crosswalk at Cedar Hill Cross Road and Merriman Drive about 9:45 p.m. and was taken to Victoria General Hospital.
Chuck Spence, who lives next to the crosswalk, said he arrived home after picking up his wife about 10 minutes after the collision happened. The area was taped off, and he noticed a van and a green backpack with its contents strewn across the crosswalk and edge of the road.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and co-operated with police investigators. The road was closed until 3 a.m.

Young person. Their injuries.
No more detail?

And like nearly every other traffic incident, we'll never hear about what contributed to the crash.

It doesn't seem like too tough a crosswalk.

Perhaps not on a sunny, summer afternoon, but what were the conditions like at 9:45 PM on December 6th?
Posted 08 December 2021 - 10:46 AM
I recall it being a bit rainy?
I'm wanting to know details like - did the pedestrian hit the button for the flashing lights? Was their clothing visible? Was the driver's vision impaired by oncoming headlights?

The teenager struck by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk on Monday night in Saanich has died.
Kaydence Bourque, a 16-year-old student at Reynolds Secondary, had just got off the bus and was less than 100 feet from his home when he was hit by a vehicle at 9:45 p.m. at the lighted crosswalk on Cedar Hill Cross Road and Merriman Drive, according to a Facebook post from his mother, Crystal Bourque.
Bourque said her son never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead Tuesday at 4:20 p.m.
“His body is being kept alive until Thursday at 5:30 a.m. when his organs will be used to save up to eight people,” Bourque said in the post.
“I have never felt this much pain in all my life. I have not slept in over 40 hours now and I won’t leave his side until the very end.

That explains the Reynolds soccer thing from another thread.
