Victoria refers to the entire region, not just the City of Victoria. That's the nomenclature we use for chain restaurants or businesses with more than 2-3 locations.

Time to amalgamate...the Red Barn Markets.

I believe it's meant to be a street sign on the banner.

.....But why green and not blue...why not red

Edit: The woman in the last photo is riding her bike on the sidewalk, :whyme: .

Instead of in the wonderful bike lane on Oak Bay Ave

My comment was that the banner emphasized the Oak Bay by making the Ave a smaller font size.

This is probably to appeal to shoppers who would rather shop right in Oak Bay than just outside the boundary in Victoria. :)

I am one of the few people that can truly say they live on the Oak Bay border. I live in a house on Foul Bay Rd and the municipal boundary runs some where between my bedroom and kitchen!

There are houses in Stanstead Quebec with the kitchen in Canada and the living room in America. Trump will have a fit!

I know someone who lives on Denison and pays taxes in Oak Bay and Victoria.

Yes, the owners of this house pay taxes to both municipalities. It also has 2 addresses, one in Victoria and one in Oak Bay. Fun when you are trying to arrange utilities. Shaw and Hydro think the house is in Victoria. Fortis thinks the house is in Oak Bay. Oak Bay picks up the garbage but if you put the so-called Oak Bay address into the garbage pickup lookup, it says the house doesn't exist.

I would put my bed right on the middle of the line, it would be wild.

Saw a house for sale once in Westmount Quebec, the backyard was in Montreal. Same tax arrangement as the Denison one.

There is at least one house, I think in NB, that is right on the border with Maine, one side of the house is in Canada, the other in the US.

Do they have a border guard in the middle of their house?

Yeah pretty much, not like the old days.

Here is one from Stanstead Quebec.

Looked in the window yesterday and saw cartons of rice crackers piled on a counter. Can't be long if some food products are already in-store.
