Blair, you are embarrassing yourself.

How so?

Please go into detail.

I will note that if you're simply supporting the Chiefs of Police minus any detailed and impartial examination of the entire issue (including the School Boards point of view), then your statement regarding my "embarrassment" should probably be retracted (you won't of course, but you probably should).

Also, note that my post didn't support one side or the other, it simply examined the wordage used by the Chiefs of Police, and went on to note that the wordage they choose to use was incorrect under the circumstances.

@OakBayPolice

With Project Sea Watch, Oak Bay Police are set to ‘walk the beat’ on the ocean. This year, officers will participate in joint marine patrols and community outreach. We are excited to build relationships with those who work, live and play in the waters of Oak Bay.

The school board claims the police chiefs “leaked” their letter to the media. The letter was part of a package of documents in a police board meeting.

It was described as “predictably and strategically leaked to the media,” via an account from Adam Stirling. - https://x.com/adam_s...LNt72cvXf0yWpgg

These police chiefs are getting more and more political. Managing optics closely.

Has this always been the way police chiefs had to operate? Or is this a new development, perhaps following the ACAB / BLM phase?

Police chiefs are political, yes.

Their role is to liaise between the politicians who fund them, and the department they run, and do so in keeping with public demands.

That’s why the chiefs are so often speaking to council and committee meetings. In the case of SD61, the Board has impacted their departments, and the chiefs are politically onside with councils. Councils also want police back, but the Board resists.

My sense is the Board expected to have been empowered by data to back their position by this point. The local research did not materialize on time, and may never.

‘Unfair’ of B.C. to download 911 costs on nine Island municipalities, Langford mayor says

January 21, 2025

The alarm bells are ringing with the expected budget increase in the City of Langford, partly due to the provincial and federal governments pulling funding for 911 dispatch services.

“It is hugely unfair,” said Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson.

“The province said the ‘we’re going to look at it.’ Then weeks later we got a note saying nope, this is at your cost, and this is what you’re gonna have to pay,” he said.

It’s happening to nine South Island municipalities served by the RCMP: North Cowichan, Colwood, Ladysmith, Langford, North Saanich, Sidney, View Royal, Duncan and Metchosin.

Central Saanich has municipal cops. All nine on that list are RCMP.

^ We are in PV so we are hot and sunny. I hear that there is snow on the beach of the Gulf of America from Texas to Florida.

Global warming?

Yep! And Louisiana got buried in snow.

A compromise: why not "Gulf of the Americas"?

If there’s one thing Trump is a genius at, it’s naming/branding. The guy understands the power of a name. Crooked Hilary and Sleepy Joe are keenly aware of his genius in this area.

For all the states with coastline on the Gulf of Mexico, this gives them a huge sense of national pride everytime they now get to call it the gulf of America. It’s like a much more potent version of Freedom Fries.

It will garner immediate and substantial support for his expansionist plans too.

Also, we can’t really point the finger at him for this since BC has been actively renaming everything for the last decade +

Trump is doing the same thing as “Salish Sea” except with a different political orientation.
