Hudson Mews should have been taller so that HP-2 could have been a bit shorter to achieve the same overall density on the site.

Did we know that a Temporary Use Permit has been submitted and approved for the site to demolish the existing structure and put 62 parking spaces in its place? And that the City also requested as part of this approval that Tri-Eagle explore placing modular housing on the site rather than parking?

I see that we were aware of the parking piece, but the modular housing is news to me.

Been almost a year what’s going on?

Reduced demand for additional downtown parking for much of this year?

Loved the original “living” wall design would like to see it built not sure if living walls are still a thing though. Would love to see the present building restored which my understanding was that was plan briefly under somebody.

Fencing is up around the site; there is an active demolition permit in place, so I assume that the existing building is coming down.

And IIRC a parking lot is going in. That'll make the car haters on Council happy.

We'll see what happens, Temporary Use Permits are valid for a maximum of three years (but can be extended by Council). The TUP was issued in 2019 right?

A bit of noise and dirt for the neighbours in that pic, but nothing to sulk about because those bottom four floors will for the first time ever have an open view and early morning sun streaming in. For now. Weird.. I thought we were on the path to eliminating the final parking lots, but redevelopment is actually creating a few new ones in the process.

Great shot! I wonder how long that graffiti has been concealed there.

Right: https://victoria.cit...isgard-streets/

62 stalls as of that application.

Businesses that have operated at 1620 Blanshard:

-Dickinson & Dunn

-Arena Coffee Shop

-Gold’s Gym

-Island Audio

-Frank Whites

-Price Is Right

-Conservative Party

-1620 Gallery

Any thing else? The rumour I heard was it was originally used as a barn with some sort of elevator type system to bring the animals to the upper floors?

Yes, the parking lot never materialized. My guess is COVID threw that plan off kilter.
