^ Makes you wonder what reference checks the couple did.
Maybe they were desperate because they couldn't find a doctor.

Health secretary says emergency measures banning sale and supply for gender dysphoria will be made indefinite after expert advice
https://www.theguard...r-18s-across-uk
Canada will likely be the last to come around.
Canada diverges from the U.K.’s path by approaching gender-affirming care from a human rights perspective rather than through a medical lens, Buffone said in an email.
“As soon as a child declares a trans identity the health-care approach shifts to affirming and supporting the child’s gender goals, and the normal protocols one would expect from our medical practitioners are absent.”
In an undercover investigation, Radio-Canada recently sent a 14-year-old actress, posing as transgender, into a private gender clinic. It took nine minutes of consultation for “Sascha” to get a prescription for testosterone.
“That’s what prescribing based on identity rights looks like,” Buffone said.
Testosterone and estrogen are cross-sex hormones given to older youth on the medical transition path.
Puberty blockers like Lupron are given to younger children with gender dysphoria — the distress experienced when a child’s gender identity conflicts with his or her birth sex.

Five years after COVID emerged, many Canadians believe unprecedented government-mandated policies went too far. One in six regret getting vaccinated.
What surprises bioethicist Kerry Bowman isn’t that more than a third of Canadians think governments overreacted to COVID, according to a new national poll. It’s that the sentiment isn’t higher.
https://nationalpost...five-years-poll
I get his sentiments but that’s a lot higher than it was in 2020….. I remember going to my first protest in centennial square. Mustered up the courage and went with the family. There was maybe 60 people there. What a let down. Big difference to the Legislature lawn two years later. Thousands were there. It took a bit longer than two weeks to figure out that it was wasn’t two weeks to flatten the curve….

Regardless, I still fully support the next societal lockdown. And the next big war, too. And whatever zany measures they come up with to counter the extraterrestrial threat(s). And we can't forget the environmental catastrophe (you know that one... it's the catastrophe that gets severely exacerbated by the responses to all of the other catastrophes, and without a hint of irony, too).
As the threatening scenarios become ever more preposterous, my enthusiasm for ridiculous responses grows ever stronger. I think I'm finally becoming a good citizen.

The City of Colwood has taken another step toward opening a municipally run clinic that will be the first of its kind in Canada with the hiring of a new family doctor.
The city voted to open the clinic, located at Colwood Commons in Royal Bay, in September as part of a pilot project aimed at connecting every Colwood resident with a family physician.
After approving the project, the search was on to hire eight family doctors and on Wednesday, the city announced its inaugural hire. Dr. Cassandra Stiller-Moldovan, a family and sport medicine specialist relocating from London, Ontario, will join the Colwood Clinic.

Manitoba woman set to lose right leg after languishing in hospital bed with open wound
Shared Health, province apologize after patient's wound couldn't be stitched up because no bed for her at HSC
https://www.cbc.ca/n...lable-1.7408220
A Manitoba woman suffering from a post-surgery infection says she's going to lose her leg because a surgeon started a procedure he couldn't finish.
Roseanne Milburn, a 61-year-old military veteran, was in hospital to undergo a knee replacement, but needed follow-up surgery after she developed an infection. She says she was told it would take a day for a surgeon to remove dead tissue from her right knee and stitch her up.
Instead, she spent days languishing with a painful open wound because there wasn't a bed for her at Health Sciences Centre.
[...]
Her leg is now scheduled for amputation on Friday.
"I don't feel I have choices," she said dejectedly from her hospital bed.
"My choices are to live with an infection for the rest of my life, or get rid of the infection and the only way to get rid of it is to amputate the leg."
[...]
It's a devastating outcome for Milburn, who in October finally received the knee replacement surgery she's wanted for six years.
Best system in the world!

So one doctor will cover Colwood staff and their families, but when will they hire enough people to start offering services to taxpayers?!
I guess one big benefit of being a Colwood employee is that if she decides to start a family she will have much better coverage than if she is self-employed.

A 52-year-old man who was provided with a medically assisted death while out on a day pass from a B.C. psychiatric hospital should never have been approved for the life-ending procedure, his family alleges in a recently filed wrongful death lawsuit.
The man, a father of three, is identified as J.M.M. in the notice of civil claim, which says he had diagnosed mental illnesses as well as chronic back pain when he was provided with MAID in 2022.
The family, whose identities are also anonymized, claim they obtained a court order under the province's Mental Health Act that saw J.M.M. committed to the psychiatric ward at a Vancouver hospital prior to his death.
"While receiving treatment at St. Paul's Hospital for his incapacitating mental illness, J.M.M. left the hospital on a day pass, visited a clinic in the afternoon, and died through the improper administration of MAID," the claim alleges.

Also named is Dr. Ellen Wiebe – a prominent MAID provider and proponent – and her clinic, Willow Reproductive Health Centre. Wiebe declined to comment when contacted by CTV News.
