They have a shop on Johnson and another a block away on Quadra. Two separate buildings for one business.

didn't/doesn't big o operate a shop a bit up johnson?...

I believe Brantastic was suggesting that Big O might be consolidating their Quadra and Johnson street operations at this Pandora site.

oh i see.   pandora certainly has 2 or three shop bays.  not sure is was a tire-specific shop but it was an auto mechanic for sure.

It was previously HJM Auto & Tire Centre.

^And after that it was briefly a fleet servicing operation. An advantage of this place is the service bays are also accessible from Mason Street. Must be one of the last buildings in town with this type of capability.

So is Big O Tires moving into the vacant building at the northwest corner of Pandora and Quadra? This place has been a tire shop in the past. The "For Lease" signs are down on the building, which has been repainted black and white, and there's been a large Big O Tires truck sitting outside for a few days. There were crews working inside when I walked past today. It would make sense for them to consolidate their two locations nearby, especially with the potential for redevelopment of their current location alongside Ming's.

Together, these two properties are the same size as 1400 Quadra. You might remember that a certain Pam Madoff was disappointed that 1400 Quadra was so understated next to the conservatory, and that a showpiece contemporary glass tower would have been a welcome foil.

Am I hoping for too much?

Jill Glowicki, who operates seven tourist stores along Government Street with business partners, called the cruise ban “heartbreaking.”

“It will be really tough for us to survive without those passengers, and with the [U.S.] border closed,” said Glowicki, whose souvenir stores include Spirit of Victoria and Moose Crossing. “The only way for us to pull through will be with government assistance on wages and rent relief. Otherwise it’s impossible.”

Glowicki said the cruise industry represents 50% of the stores’ annual sales. Visiting Americans via airlines and ferries from the U.S., which are also on hold, account for a further 40%. “So we’re 90% down. You can’t keep that up.”

While I certainly feel for the businesses affected by this latest government edit, the continued policy of paying people not to work is not sustainable. Public funds will be better spent vastly increasing the rate of vaccination. As far as I am concerned, that is now Canada's #1 priority.

Luxe Home Interiors is opening soon at 564 Yates (most recently Hughes Clothing). I assume this is a move from their Douglas at Hillside location.

A few doors down, 546 Yates (most recently Trees Dispensary) has been leased, though no indication to whom.

I can't say that's very exciting. It would be nice to see more food options there.
