They are so very very fortunate with the weather being how it is. Let's hope this keeps up into the weekend.

We won’t know if it can until it does!
Well, that's true enough I guess. If it does not lift it, what's plan B? It's the largest crane in the West. Those cables must be something else too.

And with this project's troubled history, I certainly hope there are no erection problems.

It’s hard to believe that darned crane can lift the entire span. I wonder how many lift points there will be.
In this shot the crane looks more than adequate. Remember, the deck is mostly a frame, large but not excessively heavy. The Arctic Tuk is a 600 ton crane and it lifted the old rail span. The DB can lift 900 tons. I've included a pic of the Arctic Tuk lifting the rail span below.

We're about to lift the second ring. A lot of connection prep goes into these rings, it takes a long time to get ready.

Will you be taking some pics of the pieces that have been put in place so far Gary?

I can't see the barge deck and I suspect it'll be docked at this location overnight. But I will post some closing shots, including the second ring lift...

What's the name of the barge with the bridge deck on it?
And can it be moored there that long, or is it in violation of the new Gorge Waterway stay restriction?
