i'm almost certain david ayres will star soon in some type of tv commercial.  mcdonalds or tim hortons etc.  or at least a bank or cellphone company.  i think he can likely act.

Hi, I'm David Ayres and I have won every game I played in the NHL, if you want to know another winner you have to buy...........

So over on the mainland there's been chatter for a while now about the NHL using Vancouver as a hub city for a return to play, i.e. all Pacific Division teams would play here. Now there's open musing about BC hosting the entire league, with Horgan explicitly identifying the WHL arenas as potential locations since they're all hooked up for broadcast. Strange times...

Regular season is done, and a modified 24-team tournament will determine the Stanley Cup finals. The league is working out the plan for arenas, and is still hoping to secure several "hub cities" for all remaining games to be played - without an audience. Vancouver is in the running, as are Edmonton, Toronto, Columbus, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.

Notably, the Stanley Cup has only gone unclaimed two times since it was first awarded in 1893: in 2005 due to the player lock-out, and 1919 due to the outbreak of the Spanish Flu.

No training camps before July 1. Assume at least a week for that, and 5 sets of series needed. (8 series of 5 and 2 mini round robins, 8 series of 5 or 7, 4 series of 5 or 7, 2 series of 7, 1 series of 7). This will take all summer.

Yup. Usually the Stanley Cup playoffs takes 2 months to get done so this wrapping up early to mid September is probably a thing.

Summer BBQs with hockey on should be great - while applying principles of physical distancing, of course

Vancouver will not be an NHL hub city: Canucks

The team has issued a statement thanking the league and health officials for the effort they put into the bid.

The Canucks said in a statement, "Although Vancouver won't be a hub city, we are still excited to see hockey start up again." Training camp is set to resume at Rogers Arena in the coming weeks.

Teams will be allowed to bring 52 personnel, with no more than 31 players, to its hub. Every person in the bubble will be subject to daily testing, including players, staff, hotel workers, food service employees and bus drivers. Every team member/player inside the bubble will be expected to remain there except in specific extenuating circumstances, including medical attention, the birth of a child or a death in the family.

Anyone returning to the bubble will be subject to a minimum four-day quarantine with daily nasal swab tests for COVID-19.

While the league is encouraging physical distancing at all times, players won't be required to wear masks when exercising or on the ice. The same goes for coaches behind the bench and off-ice officials. Masks are required to be worn inside the bubble by any individual not in their hotel room.

with all the leagues there is a lot of talk about finishing this season but most of the plans essentially run into the time that would normally be the start of the next season.  but i have not heard of plans for that.

You forgot the Oilers, now 1-1; as are the Jets, Flames, and Canadiens.  Leafs and Canucks try to join them later today.
