But Jonny be reasonable - you are forgetting the one single overriding criterion by which all new construction is inevitably judged in Mayberry-by-the-Sea - namely it ultimately matters not how god awfully, sinfully, indisputably and irretrievably butt ugly a development is as long as it isn't "tall" then it has a decent chance of seeing the light of day (with Tall being defined as anything higher than Pam Madoff's hair). You should know this by now.....think of the children! More critically think of the potential lost views of the Sooke Hills from the heart of OB Village man!

I don't think that would fly in a brand new building.

I agree, I am almost guarantee that these balconies form a part of the Development Permit design that is on title. A strata can't overturn without consultation/public hearing with the municipality.

Those balconies are in the City of Victoria.

Is it 1969, or am I rusty with my numerals?

Thanks for the pics MarkoJ.

Good pics, really don't know what to think about the design of the exterior. Here's hoping the floorplans and interior are out of this world.

^ At first glance the exterior might seem a little off for some reason but it is actually very practical the way the balconies are sunk in and protected. Smart that you can be somewhat protected from the elements during the wetter months.

I wish they had done something more interesting with the bricks.   Even a stripe or two of different color brick would have been a great help in breaking up the wall.  Did this go to the ADP, or is it just things downtown that go through that process?  This looks very utilitarian.

It's got a 70's feel to it, doesn't it? Atrium gives off a very 80's vibe. Maybe 1515 Douglas will be reminiscent of a 60's or 90's design?

Now that the windows are installed, I like the look of the building a lot more.

I don't get double sinks. How many times in a day do you and your partner need the actually sink at the same time? Such a wasted expense. You just need enough counter for both.

That roof would be far too much temptation for me :)

Nice clear cedar deck.

Give it a few years. Too much upkeep perhaps?

I saw some people on the deck while I was getting gas yesterday.  Maybe it was Marko?

Interesting how in the bedroom they have the electrical outlets down on the baseboard trim...

I don't mind the double sinks, but I don't like how the bath tub faucet is jammed in around the side of the cabinet.

The decks do look nice though.

Clear cedar tends to last longer.
