Looked better without the sculpture

I love the sculpture and the building ...

Some views from (mostly) View St., except the last one which is Yates.

I'm really liking this one, personally. As you walk along, I find it has a lot of design interest and draws my eye.

So the boxes surrounding the windows facing east are actually tiny balconies. But the boxes on the View Street side are narrower and therefore simply a decorative feature. If I were in one of those units, I think that frame would be a nuisance. You probably want all the south exposure you can get, especially in the winter, and I reckon those boxes would cut it down.

Don't be so sure.

The ground floor on the Yates side is going to be one of the better ground floors downtown. No setbacks. Huge, see through windows. Looks really sharp.

I guess it's aesthetically interesting, I'm bothered about some balconies being completely "boxed" while others are exposed from all sides. For tenants, it influences their ability to use the space during inclement weather quite a lot.

For the most part people don't use their balconies.

The boxes are attached magnetically so if you don't want yours you can detach it and give it to a neighbour that wants one. Or at least that's what I heard. Or maybe dreamt, I don't know.

More importantly, did you know that dreamt is the only word in the English language that ends in mt?

I like this. Not the same-old facade we see all over town. How did this one get past the "no-to-everything" people?

It's only 13 floors and in an area that doesn't have a whiney neighborhood association, so it flew through.

Photo from today showing the mid-block walkway; looks like the concrete is in

I don't know why the photo displayed sideways or how to rotate it on VV (it shows fine on my phone).

The sidewalk on Yates is all poured and the asphalt has been repaired. Looks like the road surface and even the sidewalk may open up soon.

The Yates St sidewalk is now open.
