It’s been tough for them. I’ve been in a few times over the last couple of years. It’s never busy.

Know it all.
Citified.ca is Victoria's most comprehensive research resource for new-build homes and commercial spaces.

^Biggest hurdle that place faces is that it's just up the hill from everything at the Strath, and thus has to differentiate itself somehow.  It could - it's a cosy little pub and could play on the quiet-place-for-a-drink vibe - but it wouldn't be easy.

I think it did though for 30 or more years.

When it was the Old Bailey, you couldn't even get a seat on weekends, you were lucky if there was even enough room to stand.

It was one of the most popular and constantly crowded bars in all of Victoria.

I consumed many a pint in the Bailey back in the day.

It was when they started messing with the "Old Bailey" vibe as part of some sort of "refresh" that eventually resulted in a wholesale name change, after which things began to slowly spiral downwards to the recent past which saw it almost empty (or actually empty) most of the time it was open.

I've been many times under the "Smiths" moniker, and it was never what it was when it was the Old Bailey.

When did Strath go big and open to a higher standard? After 1987 I think. I know I watched the Blue Jays win their first championship there. I think the main bar had opened.

It was briefly called something else between Old Bailey and Smiths, wasn't it - the Green Man, or something like that?

I remember a bar/lounge connected to the hotel there called The Green Room (or similar)?

That was the upstairs space, which became the Argyle Attic eventually.

The Old Bailey was absolutely the best pub in Victoria in the 1990s.

Judge orders sale of Six Mile Pub in View Royal
Six Mile Pub needs to be sold to repay the family of a now-deceased part-owner, a judge has ruled.

Wong and the other respondents should first have the right to sell the shares, but because the company had a history of never paying dividends, it would be hard to find a buyer for shares, Saunders wrote.

My understanding is there are also a group of employees and ex employees that want a cash out. They have never been paid a dividend and never given a clear exit date. And themselves have indeed found no or limited potential buyers for their shares.

Nice pub, well run and seems to be busy. Is it profitable? No idea.

Liquor primary pub/restaurant in a high-traffic location in one of Victoria's fastest-growing communities. This business has been in operation for over a decade and is run by an absentee owner with full management staff in place. The business has the highly sought-after liquor primary license which allows the business to operate as a bar which gives the operators flexibility in how they operate. The pub has a massive and fully vented commercial kitchen space capable of handling the 200-seat restaurant with ease while providing ample prep space for catering opportunities. The recent approval of a University Campus, just a short walk from the Pub will bring a brand new young demographic to the already busy area. The price of the business is a fraction of the cost of the build-out in today’s market and offers a great opportunity for an operator to acquire a great pub location with a proven track record of sales. It is fully turn-key and only requires a re-branding to be operational. Plenty of onsite parking.
