New music venue opening in former Hush Nightclub space in Victoria
https://www.cheknews...ia-1215947/?amp
Interesting.
Meanwhile, the building that houses the Victoria Event Centre (VEC) is also up for sale.
The VEC, which often serves as a music venue in its own right, is located on the second floor of the 1415 Broad St. building.
“The building will suit investors and owner occupiers should they wish to use the second floor,” reads the building’s listing.
The Broad Street building is on the market for $2.95 million.
Does that downstairs space at Swans still operate?

New music venue opening in former Hush Nightclub space in Victoria...
...For the past decade, only the echoes of magic memories have bounced off the walls of the formerly world famous ‘Hush’ (before that it was named ‘Rumours’)...
And before Rumours it was "Pals". I have lived here a long time.
None of the venues in this location could ever be described as "world famous".

I still remember 10 years or so ago when the buzzwords from City Hall and Tourism Victoria, as it was then, etc., was that, 'Victoria is a World Class city'. I'm not sure how we got voted into that exclusive group, but we certainly appeared to be.

Where's Duncan Morrison nowadays? He'd have former Taphouse up and humming before you know it, given favourable leasing terms.
Hard to believe that guy is still around and in business, he had such a bad rep around town back in the 80's. Family money obviously talks and goes far.....

Nor, more's the pity, of any eagerly waiting to take possession, food and beverage set ups, of the former Yates St Taphouse. Now there's a space begging for a tenant. A lamentably quiet spot now Taphouse is a distant memory.
Taphouse was OK but I miss Smith's (formerly the Old Bailey) more.
