Maybe it’s time we just adopt the USD.

95% of Canadians would oppose that. They would not know why, but they would.

Home sales in February dropped 40 per cent compared to the same month last year, according to a report released Wednesday by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).

That decline comes despite the fact national home sales in February rose 2.3 per cent compared to January.

Housing supply fell, with the number of newly listed properties down 7.9 per cent from January.

Home sales are always higher in Feb. than Jan. so that is not much of a surprise.

Newish listing:

$12,599,000

2908 Fishboat Bay Rd.

Sooke

Looks nice.

The highlight of the home is the 21,000 litre saltwater aquarium featuring local fish and mollusks. The home includes a detached three-car garage with a well-appointed suite above. Offered as a turnkey situation, where all furniture and exercise equipment are included in the sale. An extremely rare opportunity.

It looks like they’re re-listing. Originally they wanted $14.5 I think.

Now I understand why Sooke residents are being told they must pay 2 fares to take a bus into Victoria.

Still cheaper than North Saanich mansions. But they get one fare into downtown.

You might not have noticed but people are not that eager to go downtown anymore.

And BC Transit just made it harder for 20,000 people. I don’t think that’ll raise ridership.

One of the heralded benefits of the “15-minute city” is the increased mental health and well-being of residents. Not having to sit for more than 15-minutes in traffic can reduce stress for drivers, and the existence of reachable amenities would entice residents to walk or bike more often.

I actually firmly believe some people cherish their commute.   For some people, the solo time away from both work and family/home can be refreshing.

Of course they do!

People love that alone time. It’s a mental reset.

It's why people "go for a drive", even solo.  It's great!

Also, if I didn't enjoy "going for a drive" when I was a young driver, I never would have discovered places like Port Renfrew or Durrance Lake.  Or that you can get up to 100mph on Chatterton Way or Central Saanich Road.   :cop:  "Sorry officer, I was just trying to get there in 15 minutes, to lower my carbon footprint".

You can’t get air on that bend at 100mp/h, though.

Reachable amenities like the family doctor I have not had in almost 8 years?
