NBCUniversal’s head of advertising, Linda Yaccarino, is in talks to become the new chief executive of Twitter, according to people familiar with the situation. NBCU said Friday morning that Ms. Yaccarino was leaving the company, effective immediately.

Elon Musk had cause to celebrate two big wins for Twitter on Tuesday when he secured exclusivity to Ron DeSantis’ presidential bid announcement while garnering more exclusive business from right-wing media.

 

News broke Tuesday that Musk will usher in the Florida governor’s official 2024 presidential campaign announcement via a Twitter Spaces interview on Wednesday, and on May 30, the social media platform will become the primary home of conservative news outlet The Daily Wire’s channel of podcasts.

 

A DeSantis campaign spokesperson told media that the governor will announce his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination Wednesday night in a conversation with Musk, taking place at 6 p.m. ET on Twitter Spaces with moderator David Sacks, a tech entrepreneur.

Twitter head of trust and safety Ella Irwin resigned Thursday evening, per multiple sources, after owner Elon Musk publicly rebuked his own staff over a content moderation decision.

Catch up quick: Twitter staff had decided that a video titled "What is a Woman?" by the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh, a far-right personality who often attacks transgender people, violated the platform's hate-speech rules.

Twitter had recently announced a content deal with the Daily Wire.

When Daily Wire's Jeremy Boreing tweeted a complaint about the decision, saying that the video was barred because it included instances of misgendering, Musk replied: "This was a mistake by many people at Twitter."

Scarcity marketing. I saw it for free months ago. It’s too bad he didn’t continue with the simple facts though. I do find his culture warrior recruitment style unappealing. It’s the opposite pole again. The choice shouldn’t be who to hate. CIS or TRANS. Pick a side. It should be a message of love to all and just refuse to accept the oligarchs social engineering. Don’t play the game. The movie makes a good point to illustrate that game that’s being played on us.

It's a good film, I too saw it a few months ago for free.

 

Walsh is not perfect, but he's now my go-to DW guy now, if I have time to watch/listen to just one podcast a day.  Frustrating watching/listening on twitter though if mobile as you can't close the window without losing audio, like I can with YouTube premium.   They are working on that.
