Good Afternoon Vibrant Victorians
Our latest Lisa, Gene and Eric is out now and this week we have Downtown Victoria Business Association head Ken Kelley in with the gang to chat about revitalizing our city with one street closure at a time. Can Eric stop *****ing about the homeless, will Lisa get up and walk out if he complains one more time. All this and more can be answered. Enjoy the show, like us and leave comments on iTunes and we love your comments here and on our website www.29erradio.com http://bit.ly/1CMNc6z

Surfer fights off shark

Knocked off his board by an attacking shark, a surfer punched the animal before escaping unharmed during the televised finals of a world surfing competition in South Africa on Sunday.

Three-time world champion Australian surfer Mick Fanning was struck by the shark from behind and knocked into the water as he sat on his board waiting his turn during the JBay Open in Jeffrey's Bay in the Eastern Cape Province

A new Growler Hour is up for your listening pleasure. You have seen him in the latest Douglas Magazine, heard him on CBC local radio discussing adventures on our wonderful west coast and now you can hear

Good Morning Vibrant Victorians,
The latest Lisa, Gene and Eric show has been released for your listening pleasure and we were
happy to have Lisa back in the house. This week we wonder why we are so stuck on four level
apartment buildings, why engaging with the public cant be analyzed like a private sector
efficiency process and the mayor makes a pledge. Enjoy the show, we love your comments and if
you have any ideas for future guests you would like to have on please let us know.

Good Afternoon Vibrant Victorians,

we taped our latest Lisa, Gene and Eric show last Friday morning after the LLLOOONNNGGGGG St Andrews meeting at City Hall. Occasionally we try to do a show that doesn't make Lisa be a mayor and hopefully we achieved that this time. As Descartes said back in the day, "I think therefore I am" and the gang wonders what Victoria would be like if we all thought about how to make this city better for 5 minutes every day. The city could use what smart people call our cognitive surplus. Hope you enjoy the show, find some time to think about our sponsors and share with a friend if you are that way inclined. Lots of people do and they seem to like it. http://bit.ly/1UsBlh1

Good Morning Vibrant Victorians. This week we were lucky to have Carolyn Gisborne of the Burnside Gorge Land Use Committee and Greg Damant of Cascadia Architects join the gang. How many people from  a community have to show up to make an neighbourhood action plan? How much say should a community have in what goes on around them? All this and more. We love your comments, like us on iTunes, follow us on twitter @29erradio and love our sponsors please. Enjoy the show   http://bit.ly/1QIWsvh

Good Afternoon Vibrant Victorians

The latest podcast is available for your listening pleasure and with Lisa away at the UBCM, gene and Eric had a chance to talk behind her back. No juicy gossip, just thoughts on how to get the province back at the table. Why does the maritime museum languish with no support from the province. Why does the city have to borrow $50 mill to "solve" homelessness. All this and more. http://bit.ly/1VlTqTx

Good Morning Vibrant Victorians,

This weeks show had Bruce Anderson from Nanaimo planning department joining the crew to hear how they have built 6 shelters around their fair city for the hard to homeless including one within 100 yards of one of the cities more expensive condo/townhome developments. Also why do they make bonus density easy? Al this and Lisa gets mad at Eric too. Enjoy the show, subscribe the show on iTunes, share with a friend and please support our sponsors. http://bit.ly/1JTxxPs

Nanaimo makes bonus density easy because they need stuff to happen. Victoria makes bonus density hard because they don't want stuff to happen. The irony is, stuff doesn't happen in Nanaimo even after granting crazy concessions, whereas stuff still happens in Victoria despite the hurdles.

Good Afternoon Vibrant Victorians,

If you aren't tired of hearing VV's very own Mike K on CFAX then check out our latest show where we discuss the St Andrews Development. Mike joined Gene and Eric as they pondered Lisa's ability to run a professional town hall meeting, how the council seems to be moving from emotion to logic and much more. Thanks for listening and share with a friend. http://bit.ly/1G6jN9i

...perhaps more than in Victoria.

Guys, Nanaimo couldn't even rival the west comms for stalled projects let alone completed ones. Nanaimo is a small city and the downtown isn't large even for a city of Nanaimo's size. If they had even half the stuff going on that Victoria has going on the place would be a sea of cranes. You know how Victoria has a new condo tower on every corner, but not really? Copy Victoria's recent construction to Nanaimo and you would literally have a condo tower on every corner. You'd run out of corners in a hurry.

Quick summary of large projects happening in downtown Victoria right now (not recently completed, not coming soon, but right now):

Legato

Hudson Walk

1515 Douglas

819 Yates

Escher

Janion

Put just these few projects together in the core of Nanaimo and you'd more than double what's there now. It would be like an entirely new city. Heck, if that much stuff happened over 10-20 years it would still be a huge, huge deal. Amazing.

Seriously, even comparing Nanaimo to Kelowna is a big stretch.

Good Morning Vibrant Victorians,

We have a new Growler Hour up for your listening pleasure and we were lucky to get Pacific Opera Victoria's Executive Director Patrick Corrigan to join us for a quick chat about Montreal, NYC, and loving music enough to quit singing and focus on the back room stuff that makes an opera company hum. He is doing great things with Victoria's opera scene and getting this company on the north american map. Othello stats soon here in #yyj and he has a great story. http://bit.ly/1KgvTrn

Good Morning Vibrant Victorians,

On this day for electing, we hope you elect to listen to this latest edition of Lisa, Gene and Eric. Eric asks the eternal question "are all politicians dirt bags?" and why does it seem that we make affordable housing by shrinking the unit and chargng more per square foot than actually making the units affordable. All this and more strong language. Enjoy and we love your comments. http://bit.ly/1MzjrF0

One of the goals of LG&E is to help people ask better questions and that would include helping the Mayor ask developers purporting to build affordable units, how they could make them cheaper and bigger for the end user

Good Afternooon Vibrant Victorians,

The latest Lisa, Gene and Eric is up for your listening pleasure. This week we contemplate why the powers that be feel so right about the positions they take when it comes to urban development. Who made them god? Why do the greatest cities in the world have 50 storey buildings and we freak out at 10, can we be great with 4 storey **** boxes along cook street? All this and the soothing voice of Gene Miller. Enjoy and support or sponsors  http://bit.ly/1PRLeXI

Good Afternoon Vibrant Victorians,

A little delay on releasing our latest show due to some back rooms issues and flooding. You of course can subscribe to it at iTunes and hey presto it will arrive like magic. Anywho,  this week we ponder a city's ability to attract amazing jobs designed to stimulate the citizenry, provide a stable economy AND provide affordability. Wont rich driven people screw up housing costs so much that local government will be continuously taxing them to sustain an affordable lifestyle? All this and more. Enjoy and share with friend. http://bit.ly/1MSwt6I
