...in what looks like a giant barn from the outside, but is actually quite a nice-looking baseball park on the inside.

I wonder how fans were allowed in but none during the regular season.

turns out sports might need "bums in seats" in order to keep people captivated.
Two games into the 2020 World Series, and the score of the series is Los Angeles Dodgers 1, Tampa Bay Rays 1, MLB ratings 0.
Wednesday’s Game 2 of the World Series drew only 8.950M viewers, according to Awful Announcing, making it the least-watched World Series game of all time. It breaks a record set just 24 hours earlier, when Game 1 opened the Fall Classic with a ratings thud.

MLB’s ratings could improve if the series stays competitive, but for now, it seems in danger of shattering the record for lowest average viewership of a World Series. Awful Announcing notes that the lowest average viewership on record is 12.636 million viewers for the 2012 World Series, which was a San Francisco Giants sweep of the Detroit Tigers.

tampa is a smaller TV market, but florida certainly isn't as a whole, and of course los angeles is huge. that's not good.

The Rays walked off the Dodgers tonight with an amusing climax.

I suspect that at the very least the tying run would have made it in anyway, then leading to a win or forcing extra innings.

Rockies to host 2021 All-Star Game
https://www.mlb.com/...b-all-star-game
Second time for the Rockies to be host, 1998 being the first.
MLB chose the Rockies because they were already in the bidding process to host a future All-Star Game. The Rockies had supplied a detailed plan for hotel, event space and security that took months to assemble, and MLB staff had already made several site visits to Denver. In addition, Governor Jared Polis and Mayor Michael Hancock have both committed to provide the necessary facilities and services needed to support this year’s festivities.
With the thin air in Denver due to the higher altitude, would expect the all-star game and home run derby to be mashfests.
The Dodgers are scheduled to host the mid-season events next year.

MLB, Blue Jays fire Alomar after workplace complaint
https://www.tsn.ca/m...laint-1.1632151
Major League Baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays have fired Hall of Fame second baseman Roberto Alomar as a special advisor after a woman filed a workplace complaint against the former Blue Jays star player alleging sexual harassment, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In short: cutting all ties, removing his banner, removing him from the level of excellence

Alomar's plaque will remain in the HoF

Alomar will remain inducted, but will have no further association with the CBHoF

I am disappointed, surprised and upset with today's news.
With the current social climate, I understand why MLB have taken the position they have.
My hope is that this allegation can be heard in a venue that will allow me to address the allegation directly.
I will continue to spend my time helping kids pursue their baseball dreams.
I will not be making any further comment at this time.

The Blue Jays had their first home series IN TORONTO for the first time in a season and a half. They marked the occasion with a sweep of the KC Royals this weekend.

Hopefully with the recent trades and actually playing home games will help in the playoff run.

The pitching reinforcements are a boon. Plus being able to play at home again (for real) must be invigorating with the energy of the home fans.

Blue Jays just swept the Yankees in four games at Yankee Stadium. This was the second time they did that, the first was in May 2003.
At the same time, it's the first time the Yankees have never had the lead in a four-game home series since 1924. (https://twitter.com/...158272810143745)
Blue Jays are riding an 8-win streak (last done in 2015) to be half a game behind the Yankees for the second wild card spot.

Great series win. The starting pitching is shaping up to be some of the best in the league.
Some upcoming games against Tampa Bay will be tough.

It was leaked earlier this week, but today MLB made it official: Seattle will be host of the All-Star week in July 2023. That will be huge for Seattle. The Mariners were hosts previously in 2001 and 1979.

Jays won 2/3 of that series, which is as good as you can expect against the Rays... The Jays have a good shot at the wildcard spot now! Go Jays!
