Singh will make all sorts of noise at his news conference, but the reality is they are broke and an election right now will destroy them. The LPC will count on that and will pull a Horgan. They dont give a crap about Canadians, its all about power, and as long as there are useful idiots like Singh then nothing will change

Barely a morsel on the CBC News portal about what’s happening in Ottawa. In fact, the only mention is way down the list and identified as “audio” which few people will click on.

Meanwhile at least two US election stories have higher priority on the list. The topic isn’t even in the “Popular now” segment. What on earth...

New story just went up a few minutes ago, it's near the top but not the featured story. Yesterday they had an "Analysis" story that chalked this all up to chest-puffing and didn't think the government would fall.

Call me cynical, but they release it after the morning rush when so many people are in transit to work, getting ready for work, etc., and consuming the major headlines of the day.

If New Democrats abstain from the vote, that could leave the outcome in the hands of a small number of Green and Independent MPs.

The high-stakes vote is expected to happen around 3:15 p.m. ET and CBCNews.ca will carry it live.

There is no question that with hundreds of billions of dollars flying out the door there needs to be a watchdog in place. I think the motion would have a little more credibility though if it focused more broadly then just Liberal corruption.

CBC live: https://www.cbc.ca/p...ay/939949635618

The anchor is trying to play this situation off as a positive of a minority election, i.e. pro-rep really honestly works extremely well ...when all decisions hinge on backroom deals.

He also said we might have to expect these confidence votes regularly!

Unbelievable.

As always funny to think how different the media coverage would be if this was Harper

Why would we be surprised that the NDP and independents voted against the motion. Many would lose their seats (and pensions) in an election.

so the borat / trudeau / blackface story is pretty lightweight but it's interesting to see who is covering it and who is ignoring.

like i say it's not really hard news but it is prominent in a movie that quite possibly could be the biggest movie of 2020 or at least of fall 2020.

HuffPost

Post Millenial

Narcity

Vice

Metro (UK)

Toronto Sun

now you say "well, it's stupid dumb movie news".

but who covered Giuliani in the same film?

CTV

CBC

Global

National Post

Toronto Star

Toronto Sun

Five minutes into the film, Borat is released from the Gulag 14 years after the events of the original film and brought to the president, who shares that America has been ‘ruined by an evil man who stood against all American values.’ His name? Barack Obama.

Borat replies: ‘This led to other Africans becoming political leaders’, with the film cutting to a photo of Trudeau wearing blackface while dressed as Aladdin at an Arabian Nights themed party.

So my bet is once the BC Election is done, the Federal one isnt far behind. No Politician, especially one as power hungry as Trudeau will pass up the opportunity this virus has presented to go for the majority. And in this situation its the media that will be complicit in giving this to probably the most corrupt and definitely the most unethical PM in our history

No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems — of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind. —Thomas Sowell

what's the unwritten rule on how late a canadian election can be (before winter?).  december 1?

i'm not so sure it'll fly in quebec.  where you can't even visit your neighbour now.

CBC actually has THREE stories on the Borat film, none mention Trudeau.

https://www.cbc.ca/n...borat-1.5771519

https://www.cbc.ca/p...y/1811231299643

https://www.cbc.ca/n...rists-1.5775439

interesting eh?  they completely missed the canadian connection even though it occurs less than 3 minutes into the film.

Yup, the State Broadcaster would never embarrass Le Dauphin.

When you consider they have borrowed and spent a massive % of GDP compared to any other G7 and really have not much to show for it, have gone nearly 2 years without a budget, its written in the stars. They have to go for it before they expose the next budget and before the 2nd wave really hits hard because that could last until Spring or longer. By that time the veil will be lifted and the population will be extremely pi$$ed at them. Just look at the unrest all over the world.

Some recent winter Federal elections since WW2 - 1980 Feb 14, 1988 - Nov 21, 2000 - Nov 27, 2006 - Jan 23 so winter elections are not unheard of.

Theres no way he's going to pass this up, he'll destroy whats left of the NDP (they'll be relegated to a Western party not unlike the CPC), the BQ will likely lose 10 or more seats.

It’s not like the Trudeau black face scandal is breaking news. everybody already knew about the Trudeau pictures. Why would you expect it to get the same coverage as the Giuliani story which is brand new?
