Well, now there is an Oak Bay news item about drones. And earlier this month was an iTunes scam, that I'm sure was not unique to Oak Bay, but was reported by them. Maybe they have a new media relations person.

Renters spot drone flying near Victoria apartment
Have they checked with Brown Bros? Might be just the landlord's drone.
August 27, 2014 04:13 from Kyle Reynolds
Unmanned drones are flying into downtown Victoria airspace – and several renters say the machines are hovering too close to their privacy.
Last night Serena Lee and her friend Julie French say a drone hovered just ten feet away from their downtown apartment.
Just after 11 at night the two spotted a bright yellow light outside the second floor of the Mermaid Wharf suites.
Less than thirty minutes later another group of friends on the roof of the Hudson building on Douglas street saw a drone hover by.

Oh so that was you flying this thing near my deck a little while ago? I just happened to have my camera handy when I heard this thing buzzing away:

^ that one looks like the Devon Properties drone. On move-out day, when you are ready to turn in the keys, you activate an app on your phone, the drone comes over and does the check-out list.

^What do you think is the best weapon to take out a drone? It must be easily accessible and safe. I'm thinking a wet T-shirt or towel if it was close or a paint ball or pellet gun if you were in an area where you could safely fire a projectile. Maybe we need to amend the strata act so that the air space 20 feet past you balcony is part of the strata lot, therefore your defend-able property. I'm sorta kidding but this is quickly becoming an issue.

I can easily envision some creepers being up to no good with a drone and a camera.

I really don't think so. When it gets shot down or disabled, and they are out $500, they will think twice with the second unit they have to buy.

For sure. They're also dangerous. Can you imagine a propeller in your face from one of those things?
Every HarbourCats game, about 20 balls go foul and out of the park, land in the parking lot, on Vancouver or Caledonia, or on cars, sidewalks or condos. That's 540 balls. Multiple that by 50,000 ballparks all over North America. A baseball is more dangerous than a drone.

Yeah, but most people don't have rifles and those that do probably won't be shooting them out of their condo window! That would get them in more trouble than the peeping tom.
If one was close enough to me I'd definitely take a whack at it with a golf club or a broom handle.
