989 condo's VIP reveal starts Wednesday
http://victoria.citi...arts-wednesday/
Victoria-based Cox Developments is days away from a VIP unit preview and early purchasing opportunity for its 206-unit Harris Green condo project, 989.
Featuring two towers rising 15 and 17-storeys above the 900-block of Johnson Street and a six-level podium between them, developer Dan Cox says 989’s entry onto the pre-sale market will present one of Victoria’s most unique and sought after home ownership opportunities.
“Our VIP preview, starting this Wednesday, will give early registrants an opportunity to schedule appointments to review our floor plans and secure units in 989’s 15-storey west tower, and approximately half of the podium. And I can say with certainty that what we’re about to reveal will resonate throughout the market,” said Cox.
With 45 floor plans to choose from, Cox says buyers will have one of the most customized pre-sale purchasing opportunities of any condo offering in Victoria, and additional perks promise to set 989 even further apart from the competition.
“Our goal with the interior design was to consciously break away from the standard layouts that permeate throughout the local condo industry and present buyers with as much variety as possible,” Cox said, adding that all units include underground parking and many floor plans feature spacious balconies or terraces. I have a client writing an offer on a unit in this project and a colleague of mine brought something to my attention today that is kind of unique for this type of building.....the ceiling will be left as concrete finish. The only non-loft style unit building I've seen this in is the Reef.
Here is the rendering on their website.

Quite common in loft style units.

I wonder how they deal with the hairline cracks that commonly develop in concrete ceilings during the first year of settling? I guess they just leave them - probably not as noticeable in the raw concrete. Or maybe the hairline cracks only occur in the paint?

I walked past here this evening. The excavation on the western half of the site is getting quite deep.

It makes sense to go as deep as practical with excavations.

I mentioned weeks ago that the 989 excavation will be 1 level deeper than Legato.
Its not a matter of going as deep as practical it is about going only as deep as needed.... no company would pay for and dig to a random depth like a guessing game

I recall that. It appears they may have nearly reached that level at this part of the excavation.

It will be a really rare site to see the Legato sitting there on on elevated "platform of rock" once 989 hole is fully excavated.

Also in 860 View Street.

That rendering is not going to appeal to many people.
