Bad Idea any ways http://www.lensrenta...s-without-water

If there hasn't been a Color Run 5k or 10k race near you, there probably will be soon. And with all that color, you certainly want to take some pictures, right? Not with your camera you don't (and not with ours either).

I'm never one to worry much about lens dust. I've written about why you shouldn't worry about some dust in your lens. But the color bombs they throw out at Color Runs are different. In the last month we've had over 20 lenses and several cameras nearly ruined by these things. For what it's worth, all of the renters tell us they really weren't near any of the major 'color bombs

A new feature this year is that every runner gets to take home a Halloween costume.

So the marathon, the half and the 8km all sold out this year.

CHEK live-streamed the finish line on Facebook for the whole thing.

Seriously have people not been made aware of the various running tracks in the city and treadmills, year after year, marathon after marathon in the city, blockade after blockade, the volunteers and any paid employees are pathetic at providing any resemblance of proper traffic direction. Roadways are for getting something useful done.

^ And you couldn't conduct your business in those affected areas in the other 364.5 days of the year that the roads are open?

We need more cameras, after all everyone else has a camera why not the police.

WATCH: VicPD installed CCTV cameras for the Goodlife Marathon. While some appreciate the extra security, others are worried about privacy. Isabelle Raghem reports.

I really don't get that people are in the public realm and scream about losing privacy with cameras. Once you enter the public realm there is no privacy. Privacy exist only behind your locked front door.

I don't know why so many people paid to walk in this thing.  Seems like a waste of money.

I don't get why people equate being in public with giving up all rights to reasonable privacy. There's a difference between being seen in public, and being video taped by others and having those videos/photos archived.

At some point you have to think about what people are going to do with that data they've collected.

Do me a favor: Have a t-shirt printed up with your full name, address, occupation, birthdate, names of parents and children, your email address, phone number and income and wear it around in public for a week. Feeling a little uncomfortable at that idea?

We're at a point technologically where facial recognition combined with a host of other data collection systems makes having this type of CCTV surveillance concerning for many.

^ Why go to the step of having a t-shirt printed? Walk around with your phone and your favorite social media app and your location, personal info and the activity your are participating in are already being mined and sold.

Someone collapsed at the finish line yesterday. Heart stopped working for a moment, reportedly. Those are the only details I have.

There you have your reasonable right to privacy. No one is going to know those things unless I decide to share them.
