A new council is going to have a lot of work ahead undoing the damage done over the past 8+ years.

A large dog of any breed or temperament does not belong in an apartment. Sorry guys, but that to me is animal cruelty, and sometimes our wants are out of sync with an appropriate environment of an animal.

Great Danes and Bull mastiffs are lazy and quiet and like to hang with their owners. They make great condo/apt dogs (large breed dog owner although I don’t have one of those )

I think their purpose as a breed was/is to patrol large estates and act as guard dogs, and that’s still in their nature. I’m sure they appreciate food for doing nothing, though.

Now what you don’t hear, is how much drool and shedding those dogs cause. There is spit -everywhere- with a Bullmastiff (not sure about Danes) my friends say, and then there’s the shedding. Having one in a small living space would be disastrous if you’re not constantly cleaning after them.

Guess who’s the boss between these two?

I think the best droolers are Rottweilers and Bulldogs.

A bullmastiff is basically a mix between a bulldog and a bison.

I didn’t realize that this thread was about dog breeds.  Sorry.

OK let's get back on topic.

Here is a shot of the picnickers taken shortly after noon on Sunday August 28.

I see more dogs than picnickers, that’s for sure!

Less humans on the benches means more room for ants.  ie. biodiversity.  Ants are the highlight of every picnic.  Second only to wasps, this time of year.  I don't see the issue.

Fewer picnickers likely means less food for the ants 🐜.

Probably not too many wasps that close to the water? I’m curious what, if any, changes will be made here.

I suppose we should be thankful they have not (yet) torn up the pavement.

Someone on Reddit was suggesting that the new fencing along the south walkway will interfere with the parasailers.  Time will tell.

I'm pretty sure the way the Clover Point project was handled will be a meme and issue in the upcoming municipal campaign.

The $5000 ping-pong table would also make a great meme in the upcoming election.

We rode our e-bikes down to Clover Point today, there were several people sitting at the picnic tables, but the amount of people there sure didn't justify closing the roundabout. We watched as a truck had to do a T turn to get through the new and improved mini roundabout.

It’s a working model of the last decade of Victoria politics.

All that available green space and the city chooses to install picnic tables on the asphalt. If that's not a political statement, I don't know what is.

Whats the financial tally so far for Clover point / Dallas road? Who did the city get the fencing etc from and how if at all are they connected to city council?

They are at least a better design than the average Victoria public picnic table which are really just nests for insects.
