Oh don’t worry. “They” made people fear the air we breathe. They can make us fear a nice sunny day.

So far it looks like Pyroclasmic Surge is the front runner….

Predicting where and when disasters will strike next can be difficult. But in the era of climate change, we know that wildfires, floods, landslides, and lashing storms are expected to increase in British Columbia.

So what can you do to be prepared?

Over the months spent reporting The Tyee’s series “Bracing for Disasters” we’ve asked that question of survivors as well as emergency management professionals and volunteers.

Their answers inform this guide — which, in collaboration with the Climate Disaster Project at University of Victoria, we intend to expand with your help and as we learn more. If you have a resource you think others should know about, send us an email at ffionda@theytee.ca

What does that even mean?

Know it all.

Didn't someone says the other day that we hit a higher temp. on this day in 1973 or something?

The last record for May was 1983. Did we beat that? No one’s talking about the weather this week.

I heard the record was in like 1918...  No big deal.

PS ah this was it...

“Victoria Harbour, an offshore flow, right by the water, (was) almost 31 degrees, breaking a record substantially that was set in 1912,” Madryga added. That previous 121-year-old record for May 14 was 27.8 C.

That May 1983 weather was super hot, without a breeze. I remember it was the Swiftsure weekend. Full spinnaker start under bright blue skies.

May vs May 14 is two different records. I'm not surprised at all we broke the daily record, and we may break it a few more times this week.

Eighteen months ago, in the midst of the fall-out from the climate-themed satire film Don't Look Up, I experienced what some people would call a climate epiphany — the moment where the gravity of the climate crisis hits you like a ton of carbon emissions.

Faced with the sobering reality that we have less than a decade left before we exhaust the remaining carbon budget to keep the planet under 1.5 degrees of warming, I was overcome by feelings of helplessness and impending doom.

CBC reporter. And she’s hysterical.

Ya. We will keep the cosmos in check to within 1.5 degrees by giving more money to the Davonians.

Holding banners reading "We won't pay for fossil (fuels)," members of the "Ultima Generazione" poured what they said was vegetable 'charcoal' into the fountain.

Police removed the activists from the water in front of a group of Romans and visitors.

"Ultima Generazione" have organised several acts of civil disobedience in Italy and sprayed some works of art and blocked some highways.

That’s not civil disobedience. That’s being a useful idiot. The wealthy oligarchs at Davos are all about the “new economy” do these idiots not watch the videos?
Civil disobedience is not doing what they ask and then destroying ancient art to ask for more. This is Davonian sponsored vandalism.
