The Liberal government won’t reveal how much taxpayers spent on sending 276 delegates and members of the media to Glasgow, Scotland.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, among those who attended include former environment minister Catherine McKenna who travelled to the event as a VIP. The Department of Environment refused to say if McKenna’s expenses were covered by taxpayers.

“Canada has taken steps to ensure diverse perspectives are reflected in international forums,” department spokesperson Samantha Bayard told Blocklock’s Reporter.

McKenna is not listed on the official delegate list according to the outlet, however, she was spotted attending meetings at COP26.

In Morocco, 2,500 hours of sunlight bake the Saharan sands every year, and every day, the wind blows.

A British company now wants to build a solar wind farm there to harness that power for use in the UK.

"You can generate three times more energy per square metre in Morocco than you could ever do in the UK," Sir Dave Lewis, chair of the XLinks project, explained.

Solar panels would generate the power in Morocco. It would then travel via four cables underwater - each cable would be nearly 4,000km long - passing Spain, Portugal, and France, before reaching the National Grid in Devon.

It would provide 8% of the UK's energy - that's for seven million homes.

It's going to take a lot of taxpayer money just to buy that many "carbon credits".  :whyme:

Almost 200 nations at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow accepted a contentious climate compromise Saturday aimed at keeping alive a key target to limit global warming, but it contained a last-minute change that some officials called a watering down of crucial language about coal.

Several countries, including small island states, said they were deeply disappointed by the change to "phase down," rather than "phase out" coal power, the single biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions.

How about a more sensible goal: net-zero Rex Murphy articles by end of 2021.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is standing by his accusation that environmentalist David Suzuki was inciting violence with his comments at a climate change protest over the weekend.

The premier first made the claim in a tweet that linked to a National Post article, which quoted Suzuki as saying: "There are going to be pipelines blown up if our leaders don't pay attention to what's going on."

Suzuki made the comments amid a "Funeral for the Future" protest in Victoria on Saturday, organized by the environmental group Extinction Rebellion.

The retreat of glaciers in the Pacific mountains of British Columbia and Alaska could produce thousands of kilometres of potential new salmon habitat, a study led by researchers at Simon Fraser University shows.

The study published Tuesday inNature Communications projects that more than 6,000 kilometres of new streams could be accessible to salmon by 2100,and just under one-third of that could be suitable for spawning.

Of the total kilometres of new streams that could be gained with "complete deglaciation," the study projects 23 per cent would be created by 2050.
