Musk wanted to pay in bitcoin and Jimmy was having nothing of that.

Was I? In my haste I just might have been. Sub, thanks for the link, I wasn't intending to come across as rude.

Oh, I took it as a criticism of the article, and not of me specifically.  But thanks!

I'm just hoping they choose a place soon-ish.  I'd really like to pick up my car in town rather than travel to Vancouver just for that.

I see a lot of Teslas here. What are people doing, ordering online and going to Vancouver to drive them home?

Yes, that's right.

Sub, when is your vehicle scheduled to arrive?

Yep.  Helped someone get theirs and it's super stressful taking your nice new 3-hour-old car on a ferry inches away from people jamming their doors open.

I'm planning for a December 2021 delivery.

Gotcha. They are considering options that include leasing and a custom space. Depending on where they settle and how much is required for improvements you just might squeak by.

They already lease space for service here at least once a week.

By lease, I mean lease an entire building already suited to a service operation. They are currently considering purchase and custom build, purchase of an existing facility they can convert, or leasing a suitable space.

Where are people test-driving Teslas to see if they even like the thing?

How dare you ask such a question. Of course they will like it, it is all of the hype these days. :-)

They're selling every car they make. Seems like they don't even need test drives to move the product.

Tesla has been making some moves in Vancouver. They opened a new dealership at the former Jonker Nissan in Surrey, but are closing the Robson Street showroom. They've still got showrooms in Kits and West Van, and a pick-up point in Vancouver's False Creek Flats neighbourhood.

They're adding another in Richmond too.

A friend who's working the development on McCallum Road across from Costco said that a Tesla rep was evaluating a spot there.  Nothing solid, they were just looking.  Apparently the Tesla rep said they were impressed with how many Teslas they saw while they were here.  So I assume that means the hunt is still on, but I think that would be a good spot for people coming from up island, etc, not having to wade all the way into town.

^ Tesla would know how many cars they sold on the Island.

You can examine columns in a spreadsheet all day but until you actually get out here and see the amount of Teslas as a proportion of total cars on our roads will you fully appreciate their market penetration.

You mean their 0.1% proportion on our roads?

Maybe the Tesla's distinctive look that sets them apart from the cookie-cutter Kias, Toyotas and Fords gives the illusion of big market share but I sure seem to notice a lot of them around.
