China is negotiating with manufacturers about extending costly electric vehicle (EV) subsidies that were originally set to expire in 2022. In the Chinese context, EVs refer to battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs and extended-range electric vehicles included), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCVs). The goal is to provide support for the industry and expand this critical market.

China’s economy has slowed dramatically in recent months and with it, has its vehicle sales. Since the beginning of 2022, multiple cities and industrial parks across China, including the industrial powerhouse – the Yangtze River Economic Basin – have alternately suspended their production because of COVID-19 prevention and control rules. The pandemic-linked restrictions have resulted in the closure of stores, disruption of supply chains, and reduced consumption expenditure.

Mike is a trend setter and he didn't even know it.

The lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag is taking over the internet (nypost.com)

Belt bags, belly bags, fanny packs, waist bags — whatever you call them, they’ve been making a serious fashion statement over the last few years and now lululemon is jumping into the game.

The Polestar 5 will offer an 884 hp electric powertrain when it launches in 2024

https://www.engadget...-103514894.html

Polestar 5 is the production version of a concept EV called Precept, which was introduced back in 2020. When the company announced that it was going to turn the concept into a real vehicle, it said it was going to manufacture the EV at a new carbon neutral facility in China. The new images of the Polestar 5 show that it still resembles the original concept, with its "shark-like" nose and geometric creasing, though the automaker could still make changes to its final version. If you want to see how Polestar created a real vehicle out of a concept, you can watch a short series about the process on YouTube

Chinese-owned manufacturer MG is preparing to hark back to its British origins with a modern twist.

The forthcoming 2024 MG Cyberster was prematurely revealed in leaked patent images earlier this month, providing our best look yet at the electric roadster.

Now, a new pair of renderings by artist Theottle have illustrated how the Mazda MX-5-rivalling convertible could look on the road.

Including an electric powertrain and modern technology, the vehicle is unlikely to match the circa-$40,000 starting price of the current MX-5.

Still, it is currently unknown if the MG Cyberster outputs will rival entry-level sports cars – including the Mazda MX-5Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ – or higher-end models, such as the Toyota SupraBMW Z4, and the upcoming electric Porsche 718 Boxster.

Cruise’s driverless autonomous cars start giving rides to paying passengers

https://techcrunch.c...ing-passengers/

The era of commercial autonomous robotaxi service is here — Cruise officially became the first company to offer fared rides to the general public in a major city as of late Wednesday. The milestone comes after Cruise received official approval from the California Public Utilities Commission in early June to operate driverless in a commercial capacity.

Initially, Cruise’s driverless autonomous offering will operate only between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and only on designated streets in the city. But the limits are part of a plan by regulators and the company to prove out the safety and efficacy of its system before deploying it in more locations at additional times. The new operating window already extends its total active time by 1.5 hours as compared to the free driverless test pilot service it was offering between June of last year and the debut of this paid service.
