From memory, it was in the mid $700s for the largest units.

Can we shed some light on an incident where a man armed with an axe broke into the building, and busted through the door of a residence?

Mox, you’re on the up and up. Do you have more details on what exactly happened?

This is the first I'm hearing of it and we're in the South building. Each floor is fob restricted so I wonder how they would have even gotten up to a residence? As far as I've seen no common doors have been damaged.

What's going on in the North building? :D :o

I feel like this is why stratas like to restrict rentals.

Haha just some really bad neighbours, yelling and smoking even after the smoking ban. Lots of noise, police called sometimes.

Are they resident owners or tenants?

It's a shame people don't have more respect for their property and those with whom they share it.

^ and also goes to show that renters get painted with being the problem when they are not, leading to rental restrictions and limiting supply even more.

Those in my building who rent tend to be less problematic than those who own.

I think a balance needs to be struck.  Our building allows max 5 of 27 suites to be rented at a time, which I think is pathetic.  When I moved in it was limited to 9 which is more realistic.  We had a couple of hardship rental requests over the pandemic, both were initially rejected by the strata council.  One of those decisions was reversed on a 'technicality' and the tenants - you'd barely know they're here.

I'd be perfectly happy with a number like 50% of the building, minimum lease period of 1 year.  Maybe even a higher % providing the owner has previously lived in the suite for a period of a year or more as this combination would limit people buying suites to use as high turnover rentals.

Excellent.  God forbid pets are allowed else the building would be a catastrophe.
