Canada: you want a park?
Colwood: sure. how big and where?
Canada: no idea.
Colwood: sure let’s do it!

Martin said no specific sites have come out so far and he is unsure of how big a park would be, but his thought is that use will be made of federal lands within Colwood that are available right now.

“There are significant lands around Fort Rodd Hill that are owned by [the Department of National Defence], so that could be a location,” he said. “I don’t think it would be Royal Roads because Royal Roads is part of treaty-settlement discussions.”

Tolmie Park pickleball court neighbours doubt panels will give relief from noise

Sound mitigation project an effort in futility, says one nearby homeowner

https://www.vicnews....ief-from-noise/

“There are no breaks because they play rain or shine and the sound of the racquet and the ball is penetrating,” he said, adding they are not going to let this go.

Although decibel readings have been conducted, the neighbours agreed their lived experience dealing with the noise cannot be so easily measured.

Even with the district’s noise mitigation efforts, the residents said they are certain the sound will continue to carry and they will not feel peace until the court is moved elsewhere.

If any of them want to trade their house next to the pickleball court for my condo which is nowhere near any pickleball courts, they are free to reach out!

I live two miles from a pickle ball court in Arizona, it's not a jarring sound at that distance but it is noticeable, especially at night with less ambient noise.

I've never thought pickles make that much noise, unless they are very crunchy.

Albert Nussbaum seems like a wet blanket. And since the courts have reduced the value of his property it seems like a great opportunity to make him a offer at a steep discount.

Saanich students enhance science studies with annual salmon toss at Mount Doug

More than 100 frozen salmon launched into Douglas Creek to enrich stream’s ecosystem

Sadly it was reported later that none of the fish “took”. But a few snipes had a fine meal.

Pickleball players banned from Victoria park for making a racket

The noise from pickleball “is an irritant,” acknowledges the head of the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association, noting studies have suggested the sound is the equivalent of cars passing on a street. “But it doesn’t break any noise bylaws.”

Hey, at least those old people are doing something positive with their lives.  They could be marching the halls of their apartment building complaining about anything and everything that moves or makes the slightest bit of noise ;)

Oh I’m sure there’s some of that going on as well.

Nobody likes the other guy making noise. Would these seniors like kids jumping around on skateboards outside of their homes?

I understand that "Noise Reducing Balls" had to cancel their appearance at the Tinto Rocks festival this year.

New rules will see the courts closed Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays as of next Monday (April 4) with the hours of play available from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Why is government so inept?

Their proposal to counter pickleball popularity is reduce access to the courts.

Pickleball is popular with a demographic that's made my life hell.  Crack down on them, I say.

We can send a man to the moon, but can’t make pickleball quieter?
