Is it relatively easy to secure to wall? I am paranoid about drilling through a main water supply line
Presumably you would be screwing it into studs, shouldn't hit any water there.

Will this facade be visible when the building in the next phase is constructed to the east?

Will this facade be visible when the building in the next phase is constructed to the east?
Partially, I think. It looks like there will be an elevated breezeway connecting this building to the next phase. The issued DP was just for Phase 1, right?

Since the adjacent phases are going to be translucent, the eastern facade of phase one needs to be special.

I'm out of the loop on this one. When and why did they change to having the rust cladding uniformly over the entire thing? Another opportunity lost for suggesting narrower facades in keeping with "old town" granularity?

I was wondering that too. I was expecting white cladding. At least the balconies and windows are different enough between the two buildings to separate them a bit.

This turned out nicer than I had imagined. I hope it sparks a renaissance of this section of town.

I think with this, phases 2-5, the Capital Iron lands redevelopment, pedestrian and cyclist improvements to Government St (including new street trees and an actual proper crossing for Government at Herald!), The Powerhouse, improvements to the building with Duke Saloon/Gymnastics, the new Phillips Tasting Room (which I noticed has a large outdoor patio on the street now), and the Herald St. Brew Pub, this area is going to look a lot different in a few years. Maybe we'll even see something done with the former BC Hydro lands.

Presumably, something will be placed over top of the "gears" so people don't trip or stumble when walking there, especially at night.

Wow! Chris Le Fevre is nearing the age of retirement, or at least nearing an age when one would assume he'll back away from as active a role as he's had. His mark on this city will be tremendously positive if this project is any indication.

I can't tell if you're giving us the gears or trying to grind our gears. Anyway, let's not change gears, this seems like a great project. Really unique.
Can I just ask that it remains unique, and that we don't try to overdo the same faux-industrial esthetic? Other new stuff in the vicinity shouldn't copy it. On its own, it's great. But too much of the same would be a dreary vibe.

When it comes to over-gearing, I advocate a reduction.
