Where are you getting that info? I heard from a BC Ferries Engineer that there is a problem with a sensor on the LNG system on the Salish Eagle that prevents it from using LNG fuel.
BC Ferries doesn't have LNG at terminals so they're filling up with trucks. This isn't ideal for many reasons.
The situation is different at each terminal so the three boats, of which two are in service currently, aren't being fueled the same.
The boats can run LNG. The issues is getting the fuel from the truck to the tank and is rectified on two of the three for sure - but I'm reasonably sure it's all three now. If you take the Tsawwassen based Salish you can hear the 'burp' sound of the LNG from the Gulf Island facing end. That's the easiest way to tell from a common observers perspective what's being used as fuel.
I think there's a lot of LNG rumours and bad Intel because it's new. But new to us. It's otherwise well established and BC Ferries bought from a global leader. Not too say there isn't teething issues but the boats also have amazing warranties.
