now what are the chances the dry cleaner the odd pharmacy and the former restaurant and the nightclub get consolidated and two more towers go up there blocking all east views?

Now that the two towers are topped out, you can see Vivid is a bit shorter than Yates.
Yeah, noticed the same - wonder what the reasoning was for that.
The two buildings are at least the same height up to the 3rd floor: there is a shared podium and a 3rd floor shared outdoor area between the two buildings.

One of the two retail units here has been leased, though I have no clue what that will be.

It will be interesting to see what eventually gets proposed for the west side of Quadra between Johnson and Yates to complement these 2 towers. A tallish podium with something taller in the middle maybe?

That's what I was thinking. I assume it'll be a fairly tall tower, given that it's the same developer as Harris Green Village, but I can't imagine it going anywhere other than the centre.

No way could anyone argue that's not a Vivid picture. It's Brantastic photography.

It's hard to say for sure, but the sides of the towers haven't exactly been designed with the same care as the fronts and back. Really, it looks like the design is responding to the possibility of two more towers on the future development next door. I don't think we'll see the same result as Legato and 989 here...

While 2 towers is definitely a possibility, it's certainly not the best option for the Quadra Street frontage.
