Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking for witnesses or those with CCTV footage to come forward after a person was stabbed multiple times in the 1500-block of Quadra Street this morning.
B.C. Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) contacted VicPD just before 4:30 a.m. stating that they were responding to a call that a person had been stabbed multiple times.
Officers arrived and located the victim with multiple stab wounds that were wrapped in improvised dressings. The victim initially refused medical treatment and indicated they did not want to speak with officers. BC EHS paramedics arrived and, with the assistance of officers, were able to convince the victim to let them see where they had been stabbed. Paramedics discovered the victim had multiple stab wounds to the arms and chest and required immediate emergency medical treatment.
The victim refused medical treatment, despite their potentially life-threatening injuries. Officers apprehended the victim and BC EHS paramedics transported them to hospital for medical treatment. Their injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.
This incident remains under investigation.
If you have CCTV or were in the area of Quadra Street in the area between Pandora Avenue and Mason Street and have any information about this incident, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654, extension 1.

Why would they let a guy out, captured on video no less, hitting someone with a hammer? The governments policies are no next to insane.

An Ottawa woman who was sexually assaulted by Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard nearly six years ago says she was "never the same" after that day.
In an emotional address to a Toronto courtroom this morning, the woman said the Nov. 22, 2016, incident robbed her of her confidence, her dreams and aspirations, and kept her from living her 20s like most other people do.
Instead, she said she cried herself to sleep and prayed not to wake up the next day — something she said still happens six years later.
"A part of me died that day that I will never get back," she said during the first day of Hoggard's sentencing hearing.
"My life as I knew it was stolen from me and shattered beyond recognition. The assault took away my worth, my privacy, my body, my confidence and my voice."
The Crown says it will seek a sentence of six to seven years.

Defence lawyers suggested Wednesday that an Ottawa woman fabricated rape allegations about Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard as a “form of revenge” after he physically injured her during consensual sex and hurt her feelings.
Lawyers for Hoggard questioned the woman, who is the second complainant in the trial, about her encounter with the Hedley frontman and their communications afterward, which included text messages and a phone call.
The woman, now in her late 20s, has testified she came across the singer on the dating app Tinder in November 2016 and, weeks later, agreed to meet him in Toronto to have sex. But she said she did not consent to what transpired in his hotel room.

A jury found Hoggard guilty of sexual assault causing bodily harm in June
The Ottawa woman who was sexually assaulted by Jacob Hoggard in a 2016 incident is suing him for $2.8 million, according to documents obtained by CBC News.
The woman filed the lawsuit, dated Oct. 3, 2022, with Ontario's Superior Court of Justice. The statement of claim says that the woman suffered damages and losses as a direct result of the encounter with the Hedley frontman.

^ On the CTV news last night there was a comment by the reporter that apparently the victim said (if I heard it correctly) at the end of her victim statement that.... 'in closing I will say the same thing that he said to me....don't worry it will be over soon'.
Ouch

Saanich Police would like to speak with you about an incident that took place on September 27th in the 600 block of Hess Cres, where you crashed into a parked vehicle. Instead of staying at the scene of the accident, you decided to drive away and not report what had taken place. Luckily for the owner of the vehicle that you hit; they had a dash cam that recorded what you did. Sadly, your licence plate was not able to be seen, which is why we are sharing this post.
To assist Police in solving this file, we are going to share the images we have of you and your vehicle with our amazing followers, who will share this post and at some point, we will have your name and provide it to Police.
If you happen to see this post, we recommend contacting Police to speak with them about what happened. Please do the right thing. But, if not our followers will assist.
Thank you

Racially motivated crime, but selective concern
The vandalism of the Orange Bridge has been pointed out, and the Port Alberni RCMP would like to interview any witnesses.
I don’t see why they are worried about this, because there has been vandalism directed toward statues in Victoria with many witnesses. One article even mentioned a police presence.
To my knowledge, absolutely nothing has been done to the vandals. Were these statues trashed for another reason that does not spring to mind?
Was this not racist-based vandalism? Or is it only racism if it’s not directed against the majority ethnic group?
Racism is racism. If it is only bad if carried on one way, then racism is not the problem. Common sense is.
I realize in this day and age of feelings and hypocrisy, one has to follow the popular belief and is not supposed to mention the centre position or face criticism.
If it is OK to be racist against one group, what does that say about oneself?

The trial of two men accused of killing a Metchosin man after they escaped from a Greater Victoria prison will remain a joint one after lawyers abandoned an application to split the case.
Zachary Armitage and James Lee Busch escaped from minimum-security William Head in Metchosin on the night of July 7, 2019.
The pair appeared before Justice David Crossin in Vancouver on Tuesday. It was expected that Busch’s lawyer, Schuyler Roy, would make a severance application to split the cases.
Roy, however, told Crossin that the application was being abandoned. Armitage’s lawyer, Jim Heller, took no position on the change, nor did Crown prosecutor Chandra Fisher.
The two were discovered missing during an 11 p.m. head count. They were recaptured in Esquimalt on July 9 by an off-duty RCMP officer.
The same week the men escaped, Martin Payne, 60, was found dead in his home on July 12, three days after his vehicle was found in Oak Bay.
After a preliminary hearing to determine if sufficient evidence existed to go to the trial, the pair was committed to trial in B.C. Supreme Court.
Busch and Armitage have already pleaded guilty to the prison break and received 12-month sentences.
Busch has been in prison, on probation or on parole for almost all of his adult life. He has served a sentence for rape and is serving a sentence for second-degree murder committed in May 2010, fewer than three months after getting out of prison.

They were recaptured in Esquimalt on July 9 by an off-duty RCMP officer.
"Recaptured" is a little grand. The Mountie was walking his dog, the escapees approached him, he recognised them and called 911 while keeping an eye on them from a distance. VicPD attended and nicked them.
