The last trial was mistrial too*.

I suppose it was inevitable that somewhere in this world a trial involving organized crime might someday end in a mistrial. First time* for everything.

*nah... the counter just rolled over to zero from 999,999

Better yet, let the culprits electrocute themselves.

Witnesses & Information Sought After Electrical Panels Vandalized At Royal Athletic Park

Date: Friday, March 17, 2023 - File: #23-900256

Victoria, BC – Officers are asking for anyone with information to come forward after electrical panels at Royal Athletic Park were damaged.

On March 14, 2023, City of Victoria staff reported that the electrical panels at Royal Athletic Park had been damaged between 10 pm on March 7, and 6 am on March 8. The damage, which includes wiring, junction boxes and breakers is estimated to be approximately $5,000. The investigation indicates that the damage may have been caused by people attempting to tap into power there. In addition to the repair costs, damage of this sort creates significant electrical and fire risks.

The damaged areas included electrical outlets, junction boxes and breaker boxes.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information about the incident, including anyone in the area with CCTV from the area to call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Hmm. How peculiar. I wonder where these cultrips call "home"? And I wonder why they needed to tap into power?

Any guesses?

Do You Recognize This Assault Suspect?

Date: Friday, March 17, 2023 - File: #23-9187

Victoria, BC – General Investigations Sections officers are asking for your help as they work to identify a man who punched a restaurant patron in the face Monday night.

Officers learned that at approximately 8:30 pm on Monday, March 13, 2023, staff at a restaurant in the 0-block of Bastion Square stopped serving a man who had begun to show signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol. The staff reported that the man then became verbally abusive to staff. Another patron approached, and in support of staff efforts, asked the man to leave. The man became enraged and threated the patron with a chair. A second patron stepped in and took the chair away from the man. The man then moved to leave.

Without warning the man then struck the first patron in the face, damaged an umbrella and left the restaurant. The patron suffered non-life-threatening facial and dental injuries.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 35 years-old, standing six feet, one inch tall with a slim build. He has short brown hair, shaved to stubble on the sides and back, and longer on top. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black bomber jacket, dark pants, dark shoes, a black backpack and carrying a black bag with red piping.

Images of the man were caught on CCTV and are shared below.

‘You are in our hearts’: Sooke rallying around family of suspicious death victim

Mar. 17, 2023

42-year-old Mike Leier of Sooke was a father of two young kids, a husband and a son. He was found dead Sunday night and RCMP have labelled his death suspicious. The Vancouver Island Major Crime Unit is now investigating.

Leier and his wife Heather, a local business leader and volunteer, are well known and beloved in Sooke according to those who know them. Now the entire community is grieving. Among them is Sooke Mayor Maja Tait who has known Heather Leier for years.

RCMP say they were called to the 8500-blk of West Coast Road Sunday night around 9:45 p.m. for a man needing medical attention. They say early investigation shows he was  likely injured in a remote wilderness area near Jordan River.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Heather Leier and her two children to help with things like daily costs, childcare, and funeral arrangements as the young family grieves. By Friday afternoon it had nearly reached its $10,000 goal.

The lack of details is odd.

They suspect he was injured in Jordan River but can't tell us more?

While there was no update on the investigation Friday police confirmed nothing indicates there’s a threat to the general public.

Edmonton police officer killing:

On Friday, EPS deputy chief Devin Laforce and Supt. Shane Perka said the mother, who remains unresponsive in hospital, called police for help with her unruly son. Ryan and Jordan had no idea there was a weapon in the apartment, nor any indication the call could turn violent, Laforce and Perka said.

The boy’s 73-year-old father also lived in the suite, but at this stage of the investigation, police do not believe either adult knew their son had a gun.

Convenient cover for the government.  They know all about the circumstances of the gun, but they will not tell us what it was or how it was obtained or why a 16-year-old possessed it.

Correct.

The answer is it was obtained illegally. Which means one of two things: it was stolen from a law-abiding gun owner, and its safety components drilled out/removed (provided the rules were followed for safe storage), or it was an illegally imported illegal or restricted firearm, obtained via the black market.

Regardless, a 16-year-old somehow got a hold of a gun. We know it wasn’t the legal way, because 16-year-olds cannot legally obtain a firearms license in Canada.

Know it all.

If Pizza Hut shooter went on to shoot the constables, my guess is the ubiquitous SKS:

A lot of this stuff doesn’t add up.

It’ll likely come out he was involved in organized crime like the sailboat guys found with dead with money stuffed in their mouths, or and the guy from Squamish.

Did they smash through with their car? I understand downtown is rife with vehicle violence.

Vandals break glass in Victoria City Hall front door

It’s the latest case in a recent string of similar incidents of broken glass in the downtown area.

Despite that more of my tax dollars will have to be spent on repairs as a result of this crime, I rather like the irony of it.

Yes, it’s not sounding like an accident, at least not yet.

Police did say that the public can expect to see police out and about as a result of this incident. What does that relate to? Evidence gathering or showing a presence?
