Love the old BC Hydro building and the Marine Building further down Burrard towards the waterfront. Interesting anecdotal story in the cover notes re: the graph on the jacket cover.
Urban noise, smells - sirens etc.

That record is very valuable!!
R. Murray Schafer is the godfather of the study of soundscapes, in fact he coined the word "soundscape".
His book "The Tuning of the World" is literally the bible of those who study acoustic ecology the world over.
The interesting thing is that (as your record shows) Schafer and his gang of fellow acoustic ecologists all worked out of UBC, and Vancouver became (and really still is) the focal point for the entire study of urban soundscapes.
Anyway, that record is rare, and quite valuable.

If so, it’s people making noise in support of front line workers. Otherwise, I don’t know.

Anyone have any idea what all the honking is tonight, Cook and Bay area?
There are three people in their driveway just past Cook and Haultain that have a “You Honk, We Drink” sign.
I’m not kidding.

Yeah I finally did a lap and saw this. Confirmed.
Where's Darwin when you really need him?

Speaking of urban noise, our horrible neighbour was mowing his lawn this morning at 6:15 am, in the dew, with an electric lawnmower and flipflops on his feet. His lawn hadn't been mowed at all this year.

I actually got up and looked as I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was semi-light.

This evening in Saanich I heard a loud bang, like a massive shotgun blast or car backfire. It was quickly followed by smaller bangs and I realized someone nearby must be setting off fireworks.
I didn't think anything of it except now I am reading that a dozen cities in the US, including Washington DC are also reporting fireworks going off every evening. It's not connected to rioting; they are not being aimed at police or set off during marches or protests.
I don't know if it's coincidence, early Canada Day hijinx or there's some new movement going on.

So cute seeing humans try and learn about nature.
