Now I think you're just trying to get a rise out of everybody.

Nope, but I do like funny stairs.

Seriously though, we should put an emergency stop on this tangent before the mods get here.

That would be a total downer.

Who is going to step up to do that?

I think you just crossed the line. The yellow line, I mean. Hopefully you weren't wearing a long scarf or loose shoelaces.

Ouch! That's going to be a big hit to the Bay Centre's revenue. Any details?

Nope. But likely revenues were keeping pace with costs. That’ll be it for GoodLife in the CRD unless they open a new gym.

Well some businesses closing doesn't make downtown not OK.  Some blocks taken over doesn't make downtown not OK.  Bay Centre is not OK, I think i can agree with you there.  Again does anyone frequent a business in the Bay Centre?  If a store closes there what will yo be missing?  Stores close because people do not visit.  Downtown is still figuring out how to be with all the work from home folks.  Short-term parking transactions are still doing well, just long-term commuters is what is missing.  Again so many factors...

I will say when Eaton's closed down, downtown ended up in very rough shape.  I think it's in a better position if/when The Bay closes but it will still have an effect.

It's not like the old days but at any given time there are 5-10 people per floor...

Haha, I don't go through there much anymore but there are usually people, just so big feels completely empty while there are actually folks in there.

Yes, it's like being in one of those 'living museums', where people dress in period clothing and do things the old fashioned, inconvenient, way, like baking bread from scratch, or, in this case, performing the 15 necessary steps on a large, clunky, Hudson Bay cash register, to get to the point they can begin typing in the large number of digits on the sales tag, and actually sell you a pair of socks, or what have you. So quaint! Just like my Grandmother told me about what life was like when she was a girl and steel barrel hoops were every child's favorite toy!

Maybe wrong but probably what happened was that their lease came up for a renewal and the bay center set their price too high. That's the same thing that's happening with lower Johnson.

The lease cost is not an issue when a business is healthy and its customer base is strong.

It becomes an issue when there are other factors at play.

When do they plan to have all the escalators working at the same time?

Bay Centre escalators are working... The Bay, I saw two of them working... Not a good look.
