trump just owned one team (new jersey) and pushed to move the usfl to a competing fall season with the nfl in an attempt to force a merger that would be very beneficial to usfl owners.  it did not work.

The Washington Post ran a contest about renaming the Redskins, way back in 2003.

 

Here were the contest winners:

Never liked the name, next up change the Minnesota Vikings name. The Vikings raped and pillaged across Europe, so that name has to go.
