It seems like a better use of my tax dollars than many of the CoV's decisions.

I think the negative reaction is to the suggestion that the city would be paying people to park downtown, rather than simply offering free parking.
But I can't imagine anyone who would otherwise be walking or biking deciding to bring the car just for extra cash. As a member of the Walktoria Cult, I avoid driving downtown unless forced to.

...forcing mayor and council to face the fact that they have been wrong in their approach...
Not just wrong, but complicit. The underlying "police are the enemy" philosophy held by many council members is directly responsible for the issues we are experiencing today.

It is the underpinning of 'critical race theory' that many socialist hold near and dear. The belief being that whites are responsible for all of the social injustices in the world and the police are their instrument of power.

In essence that’s the idea. Full motion tomorrow with background. I will publish it tomorrow.

$5 in free parking isn't much of an incentive to me to download the app onto my phone.. an app that i will probably rarely if ever use (i haven't needed it yet so the likelyhood of me needing it in the future is minimal)

The app is quite handy and you don't have to fiddle with a paystation. Park, put in the number, max out the time and when you're done, check out of the spot and only pay for the actual time you were parked. It's quite handy.

Personally I think they should extend the app to cover spaces that are time limited but free. Register your vehicle when you park, don't charge for the space, but ensure spaces are turning over. Particularly spaces in high-demand recreational areas (like Dallas Road/Clover Point). Eliminate "residents only" spaces - and again replace with time limited with an EXCEPTION for residents.

What if I want to park on Dallas road and I don't have a smart phone, which I don't?

City installs kiosks like they have downtown - or like the one in the Cook St. parking behind the pharmasave - you register your license plate at the kiosk.

Or even just a number to call to register your plate number...no smart phone needed - just a standard cell would do.

On one hand checking in and out of free time limited spaces will help with turnover, but there are privacy concerns with that. I prefer it when some fat guy with a limp rides along on a moped and vandalizes cars every few hours.

Isitt we know is running a business with significant dollars from various governments, so his support for maintaining the current situation is not a surprise. But the other three I’m trying to understand why they’d vote to keep the project going despite its many failures and the danger it presents to inhabitants and society.
So essentially what is happening is bylaw officers will allow people who have accepted housing to remain 24-7 while they await their housing. All others will be limited to 7-7. Council voted 5-4, with Andrew being the deciding vote.
Know it all.
