Since 2009, The Tides Foundation and Tides Canada Foundation have granted at least $40 million to organizations involved in anti-pipeline activism in the U.S., Canada and in Europe. Of that $40 million, at least $25 million was explicitly for anti-pipeline activity while $15 million went to the same organizations for general, related or unspecified purposes.

You think the the UK or EU will adopt UNDRIP giving indigenous Europeans special land rights and self governance?

I heard they closed both the Johnson Street and Bay Street bridges yesterday at the same time.  That must have been a mess.

...yes...it was,,,had to drive out the gorge way last night around 6:30....a 10 minute drive took close to 45 minutes...bumper-to-bumper from douglas out to tillicum...

Statement On Today’s Protest Actions At The Legislature

Victoria, BC - Officers were called to the Legislative Assembly Building earlier today in response to a large number of protesters onsite, blocking entry to the building.

We’ve had many questions about why we have not arrested protesters. Our primary duty is to keep the public safe.

Today has seen Members of the Legislative Assembly, reporters, and staff, blocked from entering the building. People have been pushed and shoved. This is unacceptable. Our officers have worked to ensure safe entry and exit to the Legislature while balancing the right to peaceful protest. Peaceful protest does not involve pushing and shoving, nor obstructing people from their places of work.

Officers continue to monitor the situation at the Legislature. We will keep everyone informed about anticipated traffic disruptions and work to keep everyone safe. Please follow our Twitter account @vicpdcanada for latest updates.

CHEK reporter Mary Griffin: “Spoken with a number of staffers who were assaulted. One female government staffer suffered a nosebleed after a protester elbowed her, another protester tried to physically stop a staffer, and one woman spit on.”

Better yet who’s looking after her home and kids while she’s off searching for her next cause to disrupt.

Police are preparing to end a demonstration in Ontario by members of the Mohawks of Tyendinaga that has shut down traffic through one of Canada's busiest rail corridors.

Calling the situation "dire," Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on Tuesday warned demonstrators set up along CN Rail tracks near Belleville, Ont., to clear the area or face a raid and arrests.

The demonstrators who met the officers said they would relay the message to the others.

The demonstration began Thursday in response to the RCMP's recent enforcing of a court order in B.C. on Wet'suwet'en camps built to block construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline.

Via Rail said it has cancelled 157 trips on the Toronto-to-Montreal corridor by 8 a.m. Tuesday, forcing at least 24,500 passengers to change their travel plans

CN said the shut-down is also affecting shipments ranging from propane to feedstock, and has disrupted the only rail link between Eastern and Western Canada and the U.S. Midwest.

Bens response to Jo Perkins on twitter about the announcement that VicPD are investigating assaults etc

I was there all day observing interactions between the public and legislative officials. This allegation is #hogwash designed to discredit Indigenous youth and their supporters. VicPD’s mandate is to ensure public safety, not spread #fakenews. #yyjpoli

What an as$hole
