PP won’t trigger a confidence vote unless he’s sure it will go in his favour

I don’t think this is true. He will do it as soon as he can. If the Bloc or NDP prop up Trudeau at this point I think it only hurts them and helps the Conservatives.

Case in point. PP is planning a simple non confidence motion next week. The Bloc have already said they’ll prop up Trudeau.

From a Toronto Star article:
“Blanchet told CBC’s Power and Politics on Tuesday that he’s willing to give the Liberals a chance and suggested that mid- to late October would be time enough to see whether the Liberals are willing to work with any other party to ensure its minority government’s survival”

If another motion in a month results in dissolution, we’d have that late November election Mike said is so bad.

Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he would be appointing uber-elitist and longtime carbon tax supporter Mark Carney as his key economic policy czar. Mr. Trudeau structured Mr. Carney's appointment—with his myriad of board appointments, private interests, and investments—so that it would not be subject to any conflict of interest rules for public office holders.

Today, the reason for this may have become more apparent.

The Logic just reported that the multinational, mega-investment company that Mr. Carney chairs, Brookfield, had recently started talks with the federal government and Canadian pension funds to back a new multi-billion dollar fund that the company is raising. Worse, the report stated that Brookfield was seeking $10 billion tax dollars from the Liberal government for said fund.

The brazenness of this move is stunning, even if measured by the already low bar of Mr. Trudeau's wobbly ethical standards.

There should be no way in hell that Mr. Carney—who, as Chair of Brookfield, would have a direct personal interest in a new Brookfield run multi-billion dollar fund—should be acting as the Prime Minister's key economic adviser while his company is reportedly trying to get its grubby hands on the pension savings of Canadian families and seniors or $10 billion out of their wallets.

I imagine the Liberal's newly appointed economic manager imagined the conversation on this subject would go something like this:

Brookfield Mark Carney: Oh hey, Mark, mind giving my investment firm ten billion dollars?

Liberal-Economic-Advisor Mark Carney: Sure, Mark, sounds dandy! Cheque's in the mail!

Unfortunately, this hypothetical conversation probably isn't that far-fetched. The Liberals, and all their assorted fart-catching, self-enriching policy benders don't give two flying fudgcicles about Canadian's pensions, taxdollars, or them being able to afford much of anything as long as their corporate and self interest is fulfilled.

Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. has floated an exploratory proposal to launch a fund worth as much as $50-billion that would seek to raise money from major Canadian pension funds and from Ottawa to invest in Canadian assets – but was met with tepid interest, sources said.

In recent weeks, Brookfield floated the idea for such a fund with some of Canada’s largest pension funds, according to four sources with knowledge of the discussions. The talks were preliminary and have not reached a pitch stage, and the proposal is unlikely to get traction, three of the sources said.

The Globe and Mail is not identifying the sources because they were not authorized to speak about confidential discussions.

Brookfield was exploring a plan to raise most of the capital for the fund – likely more than $35-billion – from several of Canada’s largest pension funds. The Toronto-based asset manager would also seek a $10-billion contribution from the federal government, and pitch in as much as $4-billion of its own capital, according to one of the sources.

The proposal is unlikely to get traction as the pension funds have been cool to the idea from the start, according to three of the sources.

After Mark Carney, the former central banker who is currently chair and head of transition investing at Brookfield Asset Management, was appointed last week to lead an economic task force advising Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party, the idea is even less likely to gain steam given the potential for perceived conflicts of interest, the sources said.

The B.C. Liberal government showed itself for what it was, and the party imploded. Christy Clark now wants to run for federal Liberal leadership. I think most BCers would have considered her politics to be more aligned with the Conservatives, not the Trudeau Liberals, but here we are.

Wynn, of course, will be forever remembered for ushering in crippling energy costs to Ontario, through green and renewable energy programs that proved so expensive her Liberal government lost to the Conservatives, the same Conservatives who now admit removing vehicle lanes for bike lanes in the name of climate benefits in reality leads to more congestion and emissions.

Christy Clark would never win the Conservative leadership. So if she is interested in leading a federal party, the next best option is certainly the Liberals.

I hope she does win that. It’ll relegate the Liberals to the dustbin for even longer as Quebec would never vote for her.

Anyone watch Trudeau on Colbert? I assume is was pure propaganda garbage. Colbert went to a lot of Diddy parties judging from his fall from grace/rise in the MSM….

It literally sickens me to see his smug, yammering face - and I don't mean Colbert.
