Should be doable…even if there isn’t one there.
Welcome to politics Mark.

Our answer to US tariffs can't be just "elbows up", a fight with our own tariffs. But many Canadians are too stupid to see beyond some fight call.
Torontonians rubbed elbows with a few Canadian celebrities in Nathan Phillips Square Saturday afternoon to push back against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs and annexation threats.
Part of the grassroots "Elbows Up, Canada!" campaign, Saturday's rally was billed as a "peaceful show of unity, resilience and strength," at a time when Trump is making threats against Canada's sovereignty and slapping tariffs on Canadian goods.
Fittingly, chants of "elbows up!" echoed through the crowd several times as organizers and homegrown celebrity speakers took the stage.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow was invited to speak, along with famous Canadians like Dragons' Den star and business leader Arlene Dickinson, comedian Shaun Majumder and Blue Rodeo's Jim Cuddy, who performed his new trade war-inspired song, We Used to be the Best of Friends.
^ Oh, that should work.
B.C.-Washington border communities rally for peace amid rising political tensions
Organizers say the 'Peace, Love and a Handshake' rally aims to strengthen ties between the 2 neighbours

Which is it? Elbows up rally or peace and handshakes?

Elbows up, cool.
Where are we at on the healthcare, grocery, and interprovincial tariff issues? I think the only change we’ve had since trump came in was Blackhawk’s on the border, a new prime minister and increased taxes.
I know we just solved climate change, which is a relief.
My daughter wonders why I seem so cynical.

Cringe. Just a couple of Canadian dudes being bros even though neither have lived here or paid taxes here for decades.

Canada flag just randomly duct-taped to the wall behind them.

Parliamentary hopefuls across Vancouver Island are turning vacant storefronts into campaign offices filled with election signs, riding maps and party paraphernalia ahead of Canada’s 45th federal election.
In Sidney, Cathie Ounsted cut the ribbon for her new 4th Street campaign office on Saturday morning in the building where the Boondock’s Bar & Grill once operated.
Her Conservative Party volunteers began a door-knocking campaign in Sidney later in the day.
Ounsted’s team say they have prepared 1,500 campaign signs that will be deployed across the Saanich-Gulf Islands riding.
Liberal candidate David Beckham, running in Saanich-Gulf Islands, also started his campaign on Saturday, opening his office at the former Beach House Restaurant building on Cordova Bay Road.
He’s one of three Liberals running so far on Vancouver Island. The others are Will Greaves in Victoria and Jennifer Lash in North Island-Powell River.
Greaves, who secured his riding candidacy with the Liberals in January, said he has seen a surge of interest, donations and volunteers since Prime Minister Mark Carney became party leader.
He’s hopeful that the Liberals will be able to field candidates in all seven Vancouver Island ridings.
The New Democrats are the only major federal party with a full slate of candidates on the Island.

Voters living in Saanich have to figure out which of the three districts they belong to.
Most of Saanich West (rural) is in Esquimalt/Saanich/Sooke.
Most of the east side of Saanich, east of the highway is Saanich and the Islands.
10-Mile Point is part of Victoria, as is bits of Saanich east of Shelbourne and south of McKenzie.

My understanding is it will be a much-liked (by navy personnel), either former or very recently retired member of the Pacific Naval Fleet brass who lives in Sooke.

^ that’s why my daughter said I’m cynical.
They all seem to do it, lol... hence the cynicism I suppose.
There's a lawsuit about the CP of BC punting a Gulf Islands candidate for made-up reasons because they liked a different one better, and a federal example in Sooke.
Happens all the time.

Brookfield Asset Management was part of the Panama Papers offshore tax haven leak: https://offshoreleak.../nodes/80038758
Every major financial institution discovered out they had accounts there. (There are 11 entries for CIBC.)
A bit of a scramble in the industry.

We just awarded them the biggest contract in Canadian history. No bid. Canadians shrugged.
