How long until tents start popping up on Pandora and in parks again?
Stadacona is picking up again.

Stadacona is picking up again.
We KNOW there are indoor shelter spaces available. No one should be allowed to shelter in parks.

I got a phone message from bylaw saying they had been there this morning and would attend tomorrow morning to make sure he leaves. Not sure about the crackhead. He didn’t have tent so he’s probably free to “enjoy the park” and smoke his brains out. (He would be so much better off if he had pure, pharmaceutical dope. Probably have a job coding and saving for his first house.)
Report the Stadacona tent. At the very least it keeps them on the move. I’ve got the complaint form bookmarked now.

These "temporary" overnight sheltering signs in CoV parks have to go.

Drove along Pandora this morning about 9. My best guess is that there are 30-40 tents that have been set up.
Fencing that had been in place to prevent camping has been removed which implies the City was involved.

Or is at least turning a blind eye.

It wasn't the campers who took the fencing down.

True, but the fencing has been down for months. The return of the campers is relatively recent.

I agree. It's absolutely bad policy. It almost certainly assures us that "hippes" or other transients will camp in parks in good weather months, rather than staying in hostels, hotels, with friends etc.
Drive into town. Set up camp in any park overnight then store belonging in your car during daylight hours. It's inevitable.

Sunday morning, Bylaw vehicles were parked on the Stadacona tennis courts and there was caution tape surrounding a campsite that had goods all over the place around the tent.

Tuesday morning. Irving Park camper tent is gone. Still a bedroll and pillow laid out. I think they belong to the crackhead.
Pandora street will remain no-go zone until the two Scottish socialists remove their establishment from the area.

Yes, sorry, Monday morning.
I’m not sure supply is the issue. I think a lot of these people just don’t want to live in a shelter for whatever reason. That, of course, should be their problem, not ours.

I noticed the other day that the entire front stair area of the Conservatory of Music was covered with god-knows-what. I feel bad for them trying to function there. I remember in the 1970s attending a wedding in that church.

the campers are also starting to set up in central park again.. you can tell just by the amount of stuff there that they are settling in with no plans to take the tents down and move in the morning/next day, and you just know when the rainy season really hits and the park starts flooding (like it does every year) there will be an uproar from campers as if its' the city's fault that they came to victoria, and they set up tents in a park notorious for flooding (just like last year)

Is there any way to stop this vicious cycle from repeating over and over?

I suppose I meant, is there some way to stop this while we are strangled by the reins of the current council?

At least keep bylaw on the job. Report in every violation. They do respond quickly.
I filed another one a few minutes ago about Irving Park. Another tent, possibly the same little green one that’s been moved several times. Not sure

Another thing. The bad, awful, terrible BCSC decision that allowed this in the first place was predicated on the lack of enough indoor sheltering. And it required only daytime camping to be permitted. The subsequent mess was entirely the creation of the clown council. We now supposedly have such indoor accommodation so there is no justifiable reason to allow even that. So additional pressure on the politicians is called for. I know, I know, most of them pay no attention to the citizens, but short of tar and feathers that’s all we can do for now. And there is an election coming next year.
