That must have been a pretty silent introduction of that law, because I don't remember when it was introduced.

It's illegal to smoke in a car when someone under 16 is also in the vehicle.
That must have been a pretty silent introduction of that law, because I don't remember when it was introduced.
http://www.theglobea...ticle972846.ece

A 20-year-old Port Hope, Ont., man has been ticketed for smoking in a car in which a 15-year-old girl was one of his passengers.
While Tory Ashton was waiting for his $155 ticket, the girl — a smoker herself — got out of the car and legally lit up a cigarette of her own.
The provincial politician representing the riding says this may represent a glitch in the law and wants it be examined.

Well thought through!

^ Parents can purchase alchohol for their underage children for consumption and possesion in their own home. I do not know how the rules work for tobacco.
Really? Hmm, that's not a bad idea, get your kids used to getting drunk at home.
Ya, looks like you are right...

Anyone thinking of heading to Sombrio Beach this long weekend should be prepared for an energetic hike - which should discourage partygoers carrying large amounts of alcohol, generators and musical instruments.
The 2.5-kilometre gravel road off Highway 14 - the only access to Sombrio that does not involve a hike along the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail - will be closed for the weekend and monitored by RCMP and B.C. Parks staff.
In recent years, the remote provincial park between Jordan River and Port Renfrew has been the location of a May long-weekend party that has grown steadily in terms of people, noise and damage, said Andy Macdonald, B.C. Parks west coast regional section head.

It would have been wise if they published the closure a few days / week ago. What about law abiding citizens who planned to use the beach this weekend?
The police be selective of who they let through - if a family of 4 and their dog show up, let them in. If a car full of kids with glow sticks around their necks show up, turn them around.
So let's see - on Canada Day the police give themselves the right to search backpacks without cause, but they can't do a quick check of cars entering Sombrio?
