What a way to go. They had the roof open for a while.

Yup.

If that were me, I'd be right ticked.

I hope she gets passed through the pearly gates out of sympathy.

The hackers, part of a group called ShinyHunters, made new claims about the data they accessed last week, including that they had obtained barcode data connected to tickets sold by Ticketmaster, including hundreds of thousands of tickets for Taylor Swift shows. They then reportedly published a sample of the barcode data for Swift concerts in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis, with each barcode linked to a seat number and ticket price.

There were reports that the hackers were seeking to hold Ticketmaster to ransom over the barcode data. One rumour had it that the ticketing company had been negotiating a $1 million payment to keep the hacked data private, but that the hackers then hiked the price to $8 million after reconsidering the vale of the data, seemingly employing the kind of dynamic pricing techniques that Ticketmaster has pioneered in the live music sector.

Remember when "going to a concert" meant showing up at the box office telling the guy you wanted 'X' number of tickets and what sections were available? And the biggest risk was maybe not getting a favorable seat? Beyond that the biggest worry was getting your pot into the concert and avoiding a pat down at the door....

Last time I did that in Victoria was for the March 1980 Van Halen show at Memorial Arena. No one stole my ID, I didn't have to spend hours on some 1-8xx CS phone number, and no one had to give me a dozen different options in an attempt to recover the non-stolen ID etc.

All I had to do was cough up the $10.50 (for BTW the most excellent "red center line, half way up" seats for me and the girlfriend). Only thing that was a downer was David Lee Roth starting EVERY song by jumping off the drum riser which got old real fast.

I recall going to Hillside Mall.  The only Ticketmaster in-person outlet.  The key was finding a way to get in before they unocked the doors for customers.

It takes a very large tank to hold full-grown hoobas. And they generally don't survive long in captivity.

Following a seven-year absence from the studio, Nelly Furtado has her comeback ready for liftoff— and the Victoria-born Grammy Award winner is doing it with a big push that has officially begun.

Furtado, 45, announced Thursday she will release her new album, 7, on Sept. 20. It’s the first full-length from Furtado since 2017’s The Ride, which saw the Mount Doug high grad struggling to find her place in a nuevo-pop world. The release of 7 is expected to return the I’m Like a Bird hitmaker to her previous post atop the sales charts, a comeback which began at midnight Thursday with the release of Corazón, a song that will appear on 7.

The track (which features Colombian duo Bomba Estéreo, and is sung in English and Spanish) has an international flavour not unlike her 2004 single, Força, which served as the official song of the 2004 European Football Championship.

Well, I'm making this thread purly because I want to go see Alexisonfire in October and no one will go with me. The're playing at Legends...

Anyway, it would be cool if people posted what was going on in here with concerts at places like Legends, Upstairs Caberat, Lucky, and Sugar aswell as SOFMC or at any other place that I missed or don't know about.

Anyone want to go see Alexisonfire with me? They're one of my favourite bands :D

Omg. Yes.

Absolutely enchanting evening at the “Jam Factory” taking in the Pitchfork Social series tonight. Cowboy Junkies played tonight, and sold out this show so quickly they added a second, last night, which also sold out. This is the third time they’ve played this concert series here, and I bet they don’t play many venues this small anymore.

I’d wager 450 people at each one, $70 a head to get in, lovely food and beverage options as well for another chunk.

I booked a nice little local charcuterie box to share, had a couple of non-alc cocktails and really enjoyed the 2 1/2 hr set.

All in fine form! Love the electric mandolin, Margo’s voice is as sweet as ever, and Michael is one of the finest guitar players to come from Canada. Amazing lineup, unchanged for about 40 years I think.

As with most of the previous years’ series, this was outdoors under the sun, then dusk, then the bats then the stars. Gorgeous set up, easy access and parking, highly recommended.

Ha! Most of the audience as well. They still have these stackable metal chairs with sheepskins on them, not the most comfortable and I think we were in the youngest 5% of the crowd!

Funny thing though, I hardly recognized anyone. We were with another couple, long long time islanders, and they said the same.

Does the band have a connection to SSI or the GIs, Matt?

Hmm not particularly that I am aware of, aside from they like to tour and fill small venues. On Tuesday they were in Campbell River.

The organizer of this concert series has been doing it every summer for a dozen years or so, mostly blues or roots or Americana, but always heavy hitters. Big time session musicians, or Grammy winners, etc. no duds ever. Punching well above its weight! I think he (David youngson) must have some musical connections in Toronto and beyond. You can Google him. He’s a big shot, and I don’t know if he just loves music or there is a pro connection but it’s definitely a pro set up.

The fellow who owns the Treehouse cafe is a touring music pro, sound man. He’s got connections all over and is still hosting the 100 nights of music under the stars during the summer. Different act every night!

NHL veteran Tyson Barrie is returning to his hometown of Victoria this Saturday, Aug. 3, to host an intimate charity concert with special guest and Grammy winner Sarah McLachlan.

Joining McLachlan to perform at a private oceanfront estate in a Saanich neighbourhood, is Lumineers frontman Wesley Schultz, Dallas Green (known as City and Colour) and Nathaniel Rateliff. Top Victoria chefs, breweries and mixologists will also be at the event offering up gastronomic delights.

The current NHL free agent (previously with the Nashville Predators) has teamed up with philanthropy foundation Power to Give to host the event. He is hoping to raise $400,000 to support five local children’s sports-focused programs, including KidsSport - Greater Victoria and Victoria City Police Athletic Association.

There are only 225 tickets available, costing $2,500 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at: https://can.givergy....arrieandfriends.
