Having a solid reliable online system for community interaction would be great. So many groups pull this off but large orgs and government seem unable to even understand how to do it right. Online voting would be awesome, along with EVERYTHING the city does being easily viewed and tracked would do wonders for keeping voters informed and cutting though the BS with hard numbers. It wouldn't be hard to do if it was well organized and done by people who know what they were doing. Everything should be streamlined and integrated into the very way city hall works, rather than some tacked on cumbersome extra.
But knowing gov agencies they'd end up spending 5 million on a horrible website that was a huge pain to use, unorganized, and a couple months in they'd find a huge amateur security hole that makes the whole online-voting thing untenable.

3: Penalize property/business owners (double tax?) if they do not vote.
Any other ideas?
They would have to be allowed to vote to begin with. Currently owners of commercial properties and business license holders dont have the right to vote unless the property is owned in your personal name and then you only get one vote per municipality regardless of the # of buildings you own. Business owners that dont own the property cant vote either.
