As far as I know nobody from the San Juans has ever done any marketing here.

We do a bit from our end.

And that is nutty right? It seemed like a lot of people go there from Seattle and it is actually harder to get to San Juan Island from Seattle...

I spent a fair amount of time in Friday Harbour, and I'm pretty sure they don't want to do any marketing. They just want to be left alone to do their own thing and not get overrun with tourists.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

Maybe that is it though the restaurant owners we spoke to seemed keen on the tourist trade.

I just finished my latest post on Sidewalking Victoria on Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse. If you get there before December you can still go free, though the relatively minimal regular cost shouldn't hold you back!

Just finished my latest post, this time I am looking at parking and we still need it if we want to have people use the sidewalks in the city!

I know that this will likely make me less popular on here but I like the new bike lanes. My only real beef is that the investment doesn't really align with the census numbers which show that more people are walking to work than riding their bike. When will we see an investment in a Walktoria?

Good post!

Not just Walktoria, a bit of investment in Walknich would be nice too.

For a muni with 600km of roads, you've got a few years to go yet

New post up on Sidewalking Victoria, this time I look at a few of my favourite bakeries in the city. Loosen your belt and have a read!

After a bakery crawl it may be your last thin morning.

Pure Vanilla in Oak Bay is also good, or are you just doing downtown bakeries.

I'm a fan of Fol Epi's goods, although I believe all their baking is done at the Dockside Green location.

Not sure if it falls under a bakery, but Yonni's and Empire donuts are baked (fried?) downtown.

Bond Bond's makes some amazing cookies, and supplies the burger buns for Pink Bicycle.

I really like Pure Vanilla. It has been a stop on many a rainy Sunday.

I have not really had any of the Fol Epi baked goods though I will. As for donuts I thought about it but then decided to leave them off the list but I do like both of them but maybe lean towards Yonni's.
