Why would I pay for a streaming service that has commercials? Amazon Prime offers me MUCH more for a lot less.

BitTorrent offers you even more for even less! What’s your point?

Amazon prime has commercials.

I pay much less for the commercial free version of AP than Netflix - plus it offers all the other Amazon benefits.

Time to cancel Netflix, it sounds like.

Know it all.

Southwest Airlines is shifting to assigned seats for the first time in its history, a change that will allow the low-fare carrier to charge a premium for some of the seats on its planes.

The airline will also start offering overnight “red-eye” flights for the first time, which it said will improve the efficiency by increasing the use of its aircraft.

Southwest said customers were clamoring for these changes – when people switch to a competitor from Southwest, the company said the No. 1 reason the unhappy passengers cite is open seating. But the change will also help the company charge some passengers more for their tickets.

Kelowna ( YLW ) continues to grow, now having two airlines flying non stop to SEA for the first time in their history.

As YYJ had at times two carriers flying to SEA,  WestJet Group wants in on the YLW-SEA route.

Flying once daily in early 2025.

In the news release, YLW is going to have a booming winter program to multiple destinations in Canada, USA and Mexico.........

YYJ gets........... just one more flight a week to Mexico.........

Whats going on at the VAA level that WestJet is pulling flights to/from YYJ.

This will be the death of Air North to YYJ.

As part of their current triangle route from Whitehorse to Victoria via Vancouver, passengers headed north to the Yukon will most likely now be put on Encore flights to fill Air North flights in YVR

Maybe, maybe not. It doesn't look like they plan on selling through tickets on their websites.

Bookings will be available through a travel agent or third-party ticket sales website starting July 31. WestJet and Air North will continue to work towards future enhancements, including full through check-in capability to be added in the future.

Westjet and Pacific Coastal did the same a few years ago - an interline agreement that could only be booked through third parties - and that really went nowhere. I saw mixed WS and Pasco itineraries pop up on Amex Travel occasionally, but the fares never made sense.

The Global BC article reads more like a feeder route interline to Air North flights directly to the north and vice versa to the end station.

Could be correct, but ever since Air North stopped flying directly from YYJ ( even tried YYJ-YLW-YXY ) , I could see it was cost prohibitive to fly directly north as popular as the route is .....

Today is the day the Air North / Westjet interline agreement became active.

You cannot buy a through ticket on either airline's website, or Amex Travel.

I did see a mixed itinerary available on Expedia, but it was priced much higher than Air Canada; it doesn't look like any attempt is being made to offer competitive interline fares apart from the sum of their components.

In other words, it's basically the same as the Westjet/Pacific Coastal interline agreement at this point. Not really all that useful.

Air North and Air Canada already interline bags on separate tickets, and Air North has a "connector fare" from $99 that lets you purchase the flight between the gateway city and the Yukon if you have another airline ticket arrving in that gateway city. That still seems like a better alternative than this Westjet interline implementation ... thus far, anyway.

Interesting comparison, thx for that.

Learned last week that Air Transat had removed the last of their base ground equipment from YVR, as Porter has taken over their western Canada code share agreement stations.

Porter adding more routes, I'm still hopeful for another destination from YYJ but with the VAA runs things, maybe not.https://canadianavia...a-and-montreal/

What’s the likelihood of walking up to a ticket counter and asking for a cheap flight wherever? Like, can they offer you something like $300 to, I dunno, Winnipeg?

Or because this is Canada, they’ll laugh and offer you $900 to YVR?

Can you still actually go to the airport and get a ticket?

Sometimes people need to scramble to take alternate airlines last minute. They need the air counter option.

Air Canada takes cash worldwide - except in North America.
