Wonder if they are going to add the slave pens to the FN exhibits. British abolishment of slavery had a devastating impact on the first nation economy throughout all of Canada.

I am assuming that in the spirit of the new accuracy they are going to show both the good and the bad.

The colonial system is designed to force you to work?

We wouldn’t let the anti vax group control the Covid narrative, we leave that to professionals. Maybe we should offer the museums professionals the same respect.

Securing the establishment's control over narratives should always be the top priority. But you just know there will be a disrespectful minority who think they have a right to ask questions, raise issues, or point out contradictions and failures. Such people tend to be especially energized whenever the establishment makes a succession of colossal errors, which only further emphasizes the importance of controlling the narratives.

We wouldn't let the anti-spandrel group control the architectural design narrative. Nor would we let the anti-war group control geopolitical narratives. Nor would we let the anti-exploitation group control addiction and homelessness narratives. We sure didn't let the anti-replacement group control JSB-replacement narratives. This is governance 101.

Hopefully it caught the Cook statue vandals though.

Ongoing technician issues. OK. When it started there was no Ring doorbells etc. The technology has become next to free really.

Realizing their own service could be used to identify criminal activity by those with affiliation to their own agendas, they quickly took it down.

It seems rather peculiar, doesn't it? It has been operating for so long that I don't recall it not being available. At least a decade? 15 years maybe?

The problem is that the camera is too narrowly focused and only shows one perspective. It has to be replaced but it may take 5 years+ to seek consensus.

Oh man, that was good. Nuance.

Yes it probably needs a colonial/settler lens applied. They are expensive to retrofit over older cameras.

Like the rest of the museum, infrastructure upgrade required…

I prefer the Vegas cams anyway. Time Square is nice sometimes. This is my favourite: https://youtu.be/CUyy8rBnuzY put that on in the background for hours sometimes

Rarely do Victoria cams prefer to see that in person would be nice for the tourists I guess. Large TVs are cheap these days

Asked about the camera. Apparently it failed, and is in a precarious position that requires specialized access to replace. It may or may not happen.

Really? ... the museum gets a yearly grant from the Provincial Government of around $12 million dollars.

Do you honestly believe that they can't get access a camera (in their own building) to replace it?

Don't forget ... their available yearly cash resource with which to fund this "project" is $12 million dollars.

It's no more complex than noting that the museum has now heartily embraced blatant dishonesty as their business model.

Blatant dishonesty in the name of social justice is A-OK.

ps: "Blatant Dishonesty" is an alternate headliner at the 2022 Tinto Rocks festival
