Did I see some equipment on the empty lot at Johnson and Quadra? Something moving ahead there?

I believe Vivid workers are parking their trucks here.

The 6-storey residential building at Cook and Hillside is no longer appearing on the city's Dev Tracker.  This may be a technical glitch as I doubt that Abstract's rental division would have withdrawn its application...

Talk about a penthouse suite!

The City is considering a Development Variance Permit application to convert a rooftop amenity space to a residential suite at 1300 Yates Street: https://tender.victo...Number=DVP00209

Wasn't Castana in Cook St. Village denied a rooftop access area because villagers considered that a fifth floor?

There are quite a few of these amenity rooms atop local buildings. I can’t believe more haven’t been converted for residential use.

Know it all.

Some zoning bylaws in Victoria ) (and other municipalities) will not include exclusively common use floors into the height of the building for zoning puposes.

11 units of workforce housing are being proposed for Doncaster Drive bear Hillside Mall. The building would be 3 storeys tall and replace an existing house.

It seems a shame that both properties (up to the Westall intersection) aren't being redeveloped into something more substantial.

Can someone explain the term "workforce housing"? Does it just mean market rentals? The term makes me think of trailers at a logging camp

In this case it means 11 bachelor sized rental units without parking...

Just the latest buzzword designed to not be caught on SJW radar.

The downtown YMCA is officially for sale, representing one of the largest downtown redevelopment sites to go on the market in recent months (1.42 acres). The YMCA would like to lease the property back for a minimum of 3 years. See https://www.colliers...420df6685027b91

Interesting....so are they planning another downtown location or are they sticking with the Langford and View Royal locations?

They are looking for another downtown location as their current facility is out of date and would cost too much to upgrade due to seismic and other considerations.

They pulled out of Vic West in 2011. That location is now just a community centre run by the Vic West Community Association.

^Beat me to it by seconds. Also, Vic West is a gymnasium, a kitchen and a couple of meeting rooms. Not considered a fitness facility.
