There it is. The Great Reset also made more garbage.

Soon California will start using fossil fuels to generate additional electricity to power electric vehicles.

The first commercial nuclear fusion plant should be online in about 20 years just gotta get by till then

We only have eight or nine more years, according to the mayor of Victoria.

Know it all.

If that's the case, why should I keep paying property taxes?

To keep the water levels down.

So it's better to drown slowly?

Hopefully you’ll consider moving a few feet inland per year.

I don’t think that’s correct, she’ll be out of office in a couple months

Capital Regional District workers who are part of a local union voted overwhelmingly in favour of potential strike action as contract negotiations continue with the CRD.

Yesterday, members of CUPE Local 1978 held a vote about job action, and 98 per cent of voters said they were in favour of a strike.

CUPE Local 1978 represents about 1,000 people who work for the CRD, and another 400 members who live in the Greater Victoria region.

The vote did not call for any immediate job action, with the union noting that it would need to serve a 72-hour strike notice and maintain essential service levels before members could strike.

CUPE Local 1978 has between 1,400 and 2,000 members depending on the time of year and represents four bargaining units:

  • Capital Regional District
  • Island Health (Health Science Professionals at Vancouver Island Health Authority)
  • West Shore Parks and Recreation
  • Greater Victoria Housing Society

Members work all across the Gulf Islands and the southern end of Vancouver Island.

After more than seven months of bargaining we have made only minor progress at the bargaining table. The CRD has refused to have any serious discussion about:

  • Flex Time or a Compressed Work Week (4/10’s)
  • Work from home options
  • A fair wage increase

At our last bargaining date the CRD pushed us to impasse, and now we are heading to mediation on November 9 and 10.

Of the 51 million tons of plastic waste US households generated in 2021, just 2.4 million tons — or 5 percent — was recycled, new research shows.

The findings provide yet more proof that plastic recycling is a “myth,” says the new analysis, published by the environmental nonprofit Greenpeace USA this week.

Plastic, which is made from fossil fuels, is notoriously difficult to recycle. A major reason: Though they can be broken down into broad categories, there are thousands of varieties of the material, each with its own chemical makeup. Most cannot be recycled together, so to be processed, they must be meticulously sorted. Still, hundreds of millions of tons of plastic are produced each year, which is a major problem for the climate: Plastic production and disposal account for 3.4 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Furious? Doubt it.

‘Seriously?!” Victoria residents furious about waste collection cancellations

Those affected by the cancellations can leave an extra bag out on their next collection date

VicNews proof that people are "furious":

Some James Bay residents were quite upset about the cancellations as their next scheduled pickup isn’t until Jan. 11.

One resident posted on Facebook that their bins will be overflowing before that date.

“Seriously?! Our bins will be overflowing WAY before that!”

“Seagulls are having a picnic,” wrote another.

Another user posted that they have more garbage at Christmas than at any other time of year.

Is the cost of missed pick-ups being rebated? This is what makes me furious.

That above pick up is going to cost the company more than doing two pick ups...  I kept my garbage and recycling a little longer than normal cause I could see our room get similar to that....

I haven't had garbage collection at my house for a decade, still not furious.  How do these people manage when something actually goes wrong.
