ya, fish hook matches the description to a T.

They gotta start making these "secret" listings harder for the sleuths here at V.V. to figure out.

Could that listing also relate to Lido?

Bird of Paradise closed years ago. It's a liquor store now.

Last time I was by there, maybe 6 months ago, they had opened a small drinking establishment UNDER the Bird liquor store, with an entrance off the back parking lot. Not sure if it is still there. I searched online but couldn't find any reference to it.

Regarding Bird of Paradise, it has been reincarnated as of the summer. I think it's just called Bird Pub or The Bird now.

Bunny's Kitchen (not to be confused with Bubby's Kitchen) has opened at 904 Esquimalt Road.  They serve Fantastico Coffee, baked goods, and light fare including turkey burgers and salads.  They are on Facebook too:  https://www.facebook...29775230405489/

I think we've reached a point now where Skip the Dishes and similar delivery services are starting to have a negative impact on customers who actually visit an establishment.

I was at an eatery the other day, walked in at about 8PM ahead of their 9PM closing time. Inside were a few patrons: a couple of people eating at the tables, about three or four (myself included) with intentions to grab and go (two people had already placed their orders ahead of me).

I walked up and placed my order, paid, and only then was I informed the wait would be "around 25 minutes." What the eff? I said it's usually 10-15 minutes, at worst. "Oh, well there are seven or eight Skip the Dishes orders ahead of you and a few take-out orders."

I wasn't happy, but I think had I not come home with the order Mrs. Mike K. would have had me sleeping in the shed.

Anyways, this is not the first time I've encountered this, and it's starting to get really long in the tooth. Meanwhile the STD guys were coming and going non-stop while us blokes inside were just sitting around and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

/end rant

It has killed the vibe in some spots. Used to eat out at Thunderbird on Cook St, was usually pretty full and lively. Good scene. Once they went up on STD the place was much emptier, except for a parade of Skip the Dishes drivers. Bummer.

that was the knowns as soon as you placed your order.  so essentially in ahead of you.

now your argument would be stronger if at that time you were told 25 minutes and then it actually took 60 as more skip orders came in.

with skip the dishes there are some known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know about the orders. but there are also unknown unknowns about those skip the dishes orders—the ones we don't know we don't know.  and if one looks throughout the history of that restaurant's business and other restaurants it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult orders to know.

A great opportunity to purchase a high producing stand alone franchise restaurant. This well known restaurant brand has been operating in BC for over 50 yrs and has become a staple in the community serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sales are increasing year over year and currently doing in excess of $1.5 million per year. With tried and true systems, excellent training and brand loyalty this business provides an excellent opportunity to acquire a profitable turn key restaurant. The recently renovated and updated interior boasts over 100 seats and the fully vented commercial kitchen is well equipped and set up to easily service a full restaurant. This free standing building has excellent signage and sits proudly on one of Victorias busiest streets. The onsite parking lot with 28 stalls makes it a convenient choice for larger groups and those tired of fighting for a space downtown.

$350k.

i already checked denny's but it has more like 38 parking spots.  and i think it would gross more than $1.5M.  is there a white spot?  although it's been serving bc for over 90 years now.  smitty's (founded in alberta in 1960)?

Popular turn-key Taiwanese milk tea bar situated in Langford! Business offers a variety of drinks including fresh, flavoured and milk teas, fresh juice, coffee, and yogurt. No competition within 3km of location. Location offers on-site parking with high pedestrian traffic and street exposure. Situated on commercial floor of residential building. Ding Tea franchise was founded in 2004. The brand persisting in the belief of offering consumers newer, better beverage quality and to establish an ideal beverage franchise brand. hold on.  i might have found it.  kapten beat me to it.

This White Spot location has only 24 spaces, and isn't downtown as the ad suggests.

I'd posit that the ad is for Ricky's All Day Grill at Douglas & Burnside. Also not truly downtown, but this location was recently renovated when it rebranded from 'abc restaurant', appears to have 27 or 28 parking spaces, and the chain was founded in 1962 (i.e. over 50 years ago). Also, the pint glass shown in the listing is a Ricky's glass (has the distinctive 'R' logo on it).

The ad also mentions that the site is 17,765 sq ft which is approximately the size of the Ricky's lot, whereas the Fort Street White Spot is more in the 13,000 sq ft range.

That'd be my bet anyways.
