^Again, let us not be fooled by the stock photos. The meal on that plate is red herring.

Yes, but the build was funded my profits from the weed shops that were not operated legally.

that's $18,750 per seat.    you have to sell lots of omelets to get that back.  i suppose though that the lease rate could be very very high.  and whoever paid for those renovations owns the lease and plans to sub-lease.

Beyond the renos, loads of new equipment, tables, chairs, etc. All this stuff is stupid expensive. Easy to drop $30,000 plus on a coffee station setup!

ok VV sleuths.  difficulty on this one is only set at 3.5/50.

so i'll hazard a guess you will have it by 3pm.

$99,000

Prime downtown location with a fully vented commercial kitchen. This very popular restaurant has been an office crowd favorite for well over a decade, providing quick service and excellent food. It is prominently positioned on a high traffic corner of Douglas Street, allowing for great walk by traffic. The restaurant has an interior space of 610 sq ft with seating for approx. 15, plus an additional covered patio space in the buildings common area which can accommodate another 15 people. The fully vented kitchen is well laid out and can produce high volumes during peak times. The lease includes all utilities providing for easier management of cash flow. This space has the ability to transition to multiple food concepts with ease. NDA required for more information.

this is stumping me a tiny bit:

"covered" (rather than interior) common area seems to rule out the market (hudson).  could it be the sussex building?  there is a mexican (?) place there and at least one coffee shop.

la fiesta cafe maybe:  https://lafiestacafe.com/

Most of the owner operators I know are using take out and delivery to reduce their losses, the business by itself isn't profitable unless you had already built that clientele.

The one I get a kick out of is Mosi’s at Spartan and West Saanich.

They have a little window where they are pumping out baked goods and other stuff from morning till night.

I have seen customers lined up on the veranda out into the parking area.

A new Indian restaurant is preparing to open soon:  Curry Club.  This new eatery has signage up and is located across Blanchard from the Courthouse in the space most recently occupied by a Chinese restaurant.

On Blanshard across from the courthouse, would that be in the block north of the courthouses's, on Blanshard? At Broughton?

Is this where the long time Yokohama restaurant was in operation?

Sorry I wasn't clearer- this is on Blanshard *directly west* of the courthouse, south of Broughton but north of Courtenay.  It's in the former Yokohama restaurant that became a northern Mainland Chinese restaurant for a while... hope this helps!

Let's hope as a curry place they update the decor a bit. From what I understand, the Chinese restaurant was nearly indistinguishable from Yokohama.

Ah, ok interesting. What a time to be opening a restaurant. And it might prove profitable while other restaurants will have to spool up as you’re ready to go and spent COVID not paying rent, if that’s in the lease negotiation (usually is) as your interior renos completed.
